"Loved the secluded location within walking distance of the southern end of Lake Windmere. The cottage was smart and very clean, and well equipped, but we were stumpted on how to adjust the settings on the upmarket oven (a manual in kitchen drawer would have helped). We found that we had to be vigilant about the step in dark slate floor between bedrooms and kitchen/lounge (we used a bit of white cardboard to visually remind ourselves.) Had a great stay at The Bothy, we highly recommend it "

"Was a nice holiday, great location. Carol looked after us, gave us advice on walks to town and the monument circular. kept the hot tub clean and was responsive to everyone’s needs. Hot tub was a great way to end the day no matter the weather"

"The hotel is well located to visit Windermere attractions and our room had excellent lake views. The majority of the staff were very helpful and excellent at their jobs however there were the odd one or two who were a bit abrupt.
The spa pool and steam room was excellent, everything worked and was very clean however the changing rooms could be upgraded, the addition of swim suit spinners and body lotion would be good especially as there was no place to dry the swimming kit in the room.
Our room was tired, one of the window sashes was broken so it would barely open to let in fresh air. There was no in room safe, the bed was small and pillows hard. The carpet needed a good clean and the paint work touching up. There was no grab handle in the bath and as the shower was over the bath not a walk in this was quite difficult so we used the spa walk in sowers."
"Comfortable stay - staff were lovely! It would have been nice to have been informed there was a festival on so the car park was out of use, prior to arrival, however overall a positive experience."
"Lovely feel/ atmosphere to hotel - nice but not pretentious. Room was ok, bathrooms could have been a bit cleaner as dust and hairs still on floor. Fridge / cooler didn’t work but was fixed when raised and plug socket nowhere near mirror so couldn’t use mirror to dry hair with hairdryer!!! It’s the little details I guess!!!
Thermal
Spa was nice…basically indoor and outdoor steam, sauna and hydro jacuzzi. For those staying and purchased access via package the access to spa is limited up to 2hrs each day and only available to uses up to 4pm & subject to a looking available so I’d suggest booking the slot b4 u arrive to avoid disappointment on the 1st day! They do packages with afternoon tea and access which unfortunately made it very busy on the Friday and sadly with some overly loud local guests!!
Food menus are the same in both the bar / pub and the brassiere. But I’d recommend booking esp over Friday/ Saturday as it got busy! The food was ok but probably not up to the standard I’d expected. It was basically good pub food at a premium price. Went for lemon sole goujons on 1st night which were so overdone they could have been birds eye fish fingers which was a shame. The ceaser salad the following night was better. Breakfast was nice enough although the sourdough toast was absolutely rock hard but that’s just a minor point. Staff were friendly and attentive but not overly so.
all in all a nice couple of nights in a nice location and a nice feel to the place but not exceptional"
"I booked 2 rooms we were allocated rooms 12/14 on 2nd floor which were OK but could do with a revamp.Room 14 had a iron but no ironing board room 12 had a ironing board but no iron so we ending up sharing. Extractor fan not working in bathroom number 12.Both rooms had a view facing the main road and the traffic was constant from 5am.Car alarm going off several times during the night did not help sleeping (I know it was not the hotels fault).Breakfast was OK tea was luke warm from dispenser. Overall our stay was OK but having spent over £550 for both rooms it could have been better."
"We liked the space that the apartment had and the location of the property. The apartment was very quiet and had all the amenities we needed including the kitchen area. We also liked the garden at the back of the property. We will book again when we come back to Ulverston."
A beautiful family holiday cottage with lots of character in an idyllic village
10/10 Excellent
"We had a fantastic stay at this property. The house was beautiful, very comfortable, and thoughtfully maintained, making it feel like a home away from home. Everything was clean, well-organized, and exactly as described.
What really stood out was the host’s generosity and kindness- made our stay even more relaxing and enjoyable.
Highly recommended. We would absolutely love to return."
"We have enjoyed a fantastic 2 night stay, the location was spot on only 2 minutes to Lake Windermere and the ferry landing point.
Colin is the perfect host, very attentive, knowledgeable of the area and looked after us well.
Breakfast was a lovely; full English in a cosy setting.
The room was fine with all amenities. It was our birthdays whilst there and Colin decorated the room, these touches are most appreciated.
Definitely recommend 10/10"
