Private Pool Oasis! - Palm Terrace

Palm Terrace is a large 4 Bedroom, 4 Bathroom private sanctuary with Historic Tybee charm. The second floor features 2 Bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a fully equipped modern kitchen, generous living room, dining room, and sun room with an outdoor deck for dining while overlooking the gorgeous pool. The first floor has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, a laundry room, living and dining room and a kitchenette that is convenient to the pool and covered outdoor dining area. The backyard features a huge pool and pool house with a 90in. TV for watching the big game while swimming or grilling on the charcoal or gas grills, a large commercial ice machine, bar, and lounge seating area. The house is located on 6th Terrace beach side of Butler. It is very close to the beach. This part of the beach is significantly less crowded than the rest of Tybee and coveted by locals who know and have access.

There is also an on-site golf cart that is separately rentable for $100 per day (rentable days are 10 am to 10 am). The link to rent the golf cart will be sent when a reservation is made for the house.

Pool Seasonality: The Barracks Pool is open year-round. It is heated on the following date range:
October 1 – December 15
March 15 – May 30
The pool is not and will not be heated from December 15 through March 15 as the air temps are too cool to maintain an adequate swimming temp.
The pool is cleaned and treated once a week. We skim it on your day of check in, otherwise the normal skimming and cleaning is up to the guest.

* The downstairs kitchen sink tends to back up when the Tybee water table is high. We recommend using this sink to wash hands and fill the coffee pot only, ie, not using it to wash dishes, etc. Please do not pour grease down any drain but especially this one.*

Loud, Dirty, and a Bit Misleading

This review is not intended to be malicious or retaliatory; it’s just an honest (and extensive) review to tell others what they might experience here. Anyway, this is an old house (50s/60s?), which is not a problem. However, the problem is that almost nothing has been effectively updated. The kitchen and one upstairs bathroom seem to have been remodeled somewhat recently, but only minimally. The kitchen has some newer appliances and cabinets repainted, but the floor is still old cracked tile in places, which one of us had cut our foot on. Everywhere else in the house is LOUD. The floors screech with every step you take, and the old windows keep out no noise. The cicadas and all-day construction next door sounded like they were in the living room with us. These would maybe be tolerable, but we had two children under the age of two with us who couldn’t sleep consistently.Most of the house was fairly clean; however, there was still plenty of cleaning that needed done. As mentioned, this is an old house that hasn’t been updated, which includes lack of ventilation in all of the bathrooms. It gets musty very quickly, and there’s some mold build up in the showers and on the curtains. The dirtiest area by far, though, was the pool and pool house. No one had cleaned the pool house since before the last renter at least. The furniture was covered in dirt and stains, the refrigerator was disgusting (including a bowl of old pepperonis somebody had been snacking on and some cheese stick

Room for all

This property was spacious, allowing our large group of teens, young adults and their plus-ones, and adults to have space and privacy plus together time. We brought an air mattress and used the sun porch as an extra sleeping area so that our 15-year-old could have her own space. All of us loved the secret pass-through from the kitchen to the dining area.The pool area was a tremendous plus! The kids used the TV to have a float-and-watch movie night. We enjoyed being able to jump in after the beach.We also enjoyed being able to rent the golf cart to easily explore the island.Beach access was a breeze--just a two-minute walk and you're at the water.

Wonderful stay!

We stayed from Monday to Friday and would go back! The house was immaculate and so much fun. Each part of the house offered something new from the upstairs deck to the screened in porch where we ate breakfast to the cozy living room where we read at night to the pool area where we spent much of our time when at the house. The bedrooms all had a charm and were super comfortable beds in all! Greta air conditioning and location was perfect- two min walk to beach. The outdoor landscaping was in need of attention and the property manager reached out Wednesday to let us know they would be coming on Thursday but respected our request to hold off until we left the next day so it would not disturb our stay. Pool was incredible! Kitchen was not very stocked - had what you needed but could use more small spoons !Overall we loved the house and would come back- had kids age 9 and 6 up through grandparents and everyone was happy!

Great Getaway Location

Perfect for a group with kids or friends/family or even a guys weekend. The house has plenty of space and rooms, seating for large groups. The pool and outdoor TV are great ways to end a beach day or start your morning before the rest of your crew gets moving. The property manager was very attentive and responsive and alerted us when maint crews were coming or if the cleaning crew was done early.

Family time fun

We loved this house as a big family traveling with varying age groups and interests. The separate levels were great for different groups especially for those needing quiet for work calls. WiFi was on the slower end and connecting was challenging outside. Most of us were there for a vacation so it wasn’t a major issue as far as WFH. The host was incredibly responsive to questions before the trip and resolved a minor inconvenience immediately. The house was clean, neat, and well stocked-lots of towels. The pool and lounge area was in almost constant use. Unfortunately, we are a family very sensitive to mosquitoes and they were absolutely ferocious. We tried candles and bug spray from local stores but nothing helped so we ended up out of the pool most evenings. Sharing this for any other majorly sensitive families as I know there are other bug spray and device options available online or in more major stores to bring with you. Local outdoor restaurants also shared how bad the mosquitoes have been this year requiring extra spray and numerous preventative measures. Suggestions for the host to add include stronger Internet or an extender to support more people/distance, towel rack or holder by the pool, trimming up the landscaping on the walkways, and more powerful mosquitoes yard treatment if possible. Overall we loved the house (location & amenities) and responsiveness of the management company that we can’t wait to return!

4/5- just needs a little more attention to details

We visited Tybee for a family vacation. Ages 4 months to 85 years old. On a positive note, the pool area is the main attraction. It is so pretty and a great place to relax after a day at the beach. There are so many floats and toys, presumably left by previous guests, so don't bother bringing any more. The house was very clean and the property manager was very responsive every time we reached out. On the downside, the owners/ property managers need to up their game a bit. The pool was not cleaned when we came, so we had toys and goggles in the pool and miscellaneous trash around the pool and in the landscaping.My husband cleaned the pool and I picked up the trash. This was not how we wanted to start our vacation. Additionally, we had an A/C issue the first night, but the property manager was able to get someone out first thing the next morning; quite an accomplishment on a holiday weekend! Lastly, I saw where several previous guests mentioned the lack of basic cooking supplies. I agree. They seriously need to get a can opener, a colander, and some better pots and pans- or maybe just forget the cooking and plan to eat out!

End of school year family trip

This was the perfect vacation rental for an end of school year trip for our family. The home, pool, cabana, and proximity to the beach made for a wonderful family vacation. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking. The home was clean. The property managers had excellent communication and everything was smooth and seamless. Overall 5/5 as a wonderful vacation rental.

Beautiful property!

Location was great for beach access and having a heated pool while visiting in March was a huge plus! We did have some issues with the WiFi, but the property manager did their best to troubleshoot it for us. We would stay again if in the area!

Tybee First-timers

The house is very spacious and laid out in an ideal way for large families, with plenty of bathrooms and privacy for everyone. It is beautifully decorated and the beds and linens are top quality. The kitchen is well appointed, but lacked some essential items for cooking, such as a can opener. A bit of dedicated stocking would help this kitchen be more fantastic. There should be large enough cooking pans and serving dishes to accommodate family meals of the size this house will allow. I would suggest area rugs in the bedrooms, and perhaps curtains, to make a cozier ambience. The security lights outside by the pool bring a LOT of light into some of the bedrooms, and even with the blinds closed there's a lot of light to sleep with. We had some trouble with getting the bedroom TVs to log into the internet. It didn't seem that the signal was strong enough for such a large house. I would also suggest a large gas grill by the pool! We would have cooked outside more if we had not had to wait for charcoal to be ready. It is overall a very lovely property and I would stay there again. The multiple living spaces and the TWO kitchens make for a very enjoyable family time, with plenty of separation for privacy as needed. The short walk to the beach is lovely (we could not find access from the house itself, but walked one block over to the next street with access). The heated pool was the best feature. I stayed in it for hours!
