Esztergom is a pleasant Hungarian town situated on the Slovakia-Hungary border. Štúrovo is the town on the Slovak side of the border, which has an ethnic Hungarian majority.

On a small hill overlooking the town and the Danube is a Cathedral, which is the largest in Hungary, and the site at which the Hungarian king Vajk (Szent István) was baptised. The adjacent castle complex is also worth a look.

You can easily get here by bus or train from Budapest. Alternatively, you can take a train to Štúrovo which is on the main line between Budapest and Bratislava. From there, it's a 45 minute walk to the Danube.

「The flat was very clean and had adequate bedrooms and bathrooms. The WiFi was intermittent at best. Our VRBO contacts were VERY GOOD about keeping in contact with us when we had a problem, and it did get resolved after a couple days. We also needed more kitchen and bath towels.(We stayed 5 days with 7 guests and had do go to Bubbles to do laundry) Only one kitchen towel was provided.
