Everything was done for a perfect stay, from the delicious food, the comfortable rooms, to the ideal location and delicate attentions. But most of all, the personnel who went above and beyond to make sure our stay was exceptional.
Best service I've ever had at a hotel. The staff are super kind, we felt as if we were in someone's home with them taking care of us.
Rooms were kept clean and the place had lots of included amenities to partake in.
If you're looking for a modern ryokan experience, I highly recommend!
This ryokan exceeded expectations! The tea served at check in, multi-course dinner, amenities (private onsens!), delicious breakfast, and freshly made mochi at checkout all create an amazing stay. This is truly a first-class experience. I’ll be back! Thanks to all of the staff who made the stay exceptional.
Great location and beautifully decorated inside. Rooms were spacious and everything was spotless. The staff were wonderful and super friendly and attentive.
Pack light, rooms are not the largest size. Dining room looked nice in the pictures but not very practical or comfy when U sit down to eat. Breakfast is good.
I read the reviews from this stay and was expecting much more. The rooms were tiny, the meals were good but not exceptional compared to kaiseki we had during our stay in Hakone. The staff was nice and the little treats/cakes were good but overall we were disappointed. Also there is no shower in the room because you are expected to use the bath houses.
We had the opportunity to stay at this onsen hotel and had an absolutely fantastic experience. The buffet dinner was a highlight — beautifully presented and offering a wide variety of dishes that felt like something out of a Michelin-star restaurant. It was a real treat to enjoy both gourmet cuisine and local delicacies in one meal.
The bar was another pleasant surprise, with a great selection of local cocktails and drinks that added a special touch to the evening.
Of course, the hot spring spa was everything we hoped for — relaxing, clean, and the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring.
Overall, this was a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable stay. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience a mix of luxury, local flavor, and relaxation.
We were greeted with freshly made hot tea and cakes, and an incredibly informative introduction to the hotel, amenities, and local area. They also provided wine in the lobby and an open bar with multiple drinks and small snacks until midnight and 0200 respectively which was almost unbelievable until we saw it ourselves.
This ryokan was an amazing and incredible experience. The people here were so kind and their service was on another level! From the moment we walked in to check in, we were comfortably seated to tea and refreshments. Their morning breakfast.. we were amazed at the quality of the spread. Their dinner felt like a feast and had such curated foods. During our whole stay here, it felt like a wellness stay from the healthy meals, snack/tea times, aromatherapy towels, and private onsen (there are two onsens on the main floor that is shared by the guests but can be privately used one at a time). Beds and rooms were so comfortable as well! Thank you so much for the stay, we had a wonderful experience!!
We had a really wonderful time. The staff was all incredibly kind and helpful and went above and beyond with everything. The food and drink was all so delicious and there was a private onsen for us to use which was really nice. Would definitely stay here again!
This place is absolutely amazing! The property is visually stunning, I could just sit in the lounge all day! The staff are friendly, great at their jobs, and total professionals. They knock it out of the park with their food, drink, and tea selection. The private onsen is super nice and a relaxing break from the busy public baths. This is one of my favorite stays ever! Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area.
Hotel staff was very attentive. Room was clean and well maintained. Food offerings were plenty. We were most impressed with the dinner service provided by the young lady staff. Service was personable and adequate. Our room was facing the back and there was construction going on next to the property so there was some noise during the stay. We stayed two nights.
It’s an excellent place in Kinosaki. The beautiful and detailed decoration made the moods peaceful and joy. The smiling workers hospitalizations warm our hearts. We will come back here again.

Nice and Quaint ryokan. However , they can do with a lit up signage bearing the name of the hotel in English. This being the beginning of winter, things gets dark early. We arrived at 6 and had a bit of a problem locating the hotel. A clueless/ unhelpful next door neighbour didn’t help matters either. We actually went to the Onsen next door and asked for directions only to be given unhelpful answers. I am sure he knew the Ryokan was exactly next door.
The food was nice and the free flow liquers helped warm us up very quickly. And point to note: they mean business when they say that checkout time is at 10am. We got locked out when we tried to access our room and luggage at 9.57am.
Do not bring heavy luggage as the narrow stairs makes it challenging.
Plus point is that you have two private indoor baths for 6 rooms ( that is the number of rooms they have. The Myanmese staff manning the ryokan are helpful and very cheerful.
My recent stay at SUMIHEI BETTEI TOKItoTOKI was a delightful experience, blending traditional Japanese elegance with modern luxury. The serene setting and beautifully designed rooms provided a perfect escape from the everyday hustle, while the onsen baths were a haven of relaxation. The staff’s exceptional service and attention to detail made the stay truly memorable.
Dining at the hotel was a culinary highlight, showcasing exquisite local flavors and artistic presentation. Overall, SUMIHEI BETTEI TOKItoTOKI is not just a hotel, but a gateway to experiencing the charm and tranquility of Kinosaki Onsen. I left rejuvenated and look forward to returning.
Cute property with wonderful staff. I can't say enough about the hospitality that we enjoyed here. The staff is incredibly thoughtful and helpful. The property has fun decorations and a great view from the eating area on second floor. The food is plentiful! I have a very bad reaction to chemical MSG which is a flavor enhancer used in many Japanese foods. The staff was very helpful in helping me avoid this. Previous to arriving, based on the communication over email I was not sure if I would be able to eat at the hotel, but once we were there it was very clear how they were able to help with my dietary restriction and the food was great. I also forgot a pair of shoes in the lobby and they had it sent to Tokyo. Really great service.
Wonderful first time experience in Kinosakionsen! This hotel is in the perfect location. It's a very short walk from the train station and all of the 7 public onsens. Also a short walk to the Kinosaki Ropeway. There are 2 private onsens in the hotel where couples/families can soak together. Every floor has a light to indicate if available. Service is impeccable and easy to communicate in English with the staff. Food is plentiful! Breakfast and Dinner were included as well as an afternoon tea service. All you care to eat! Fair warning, don't go crazy at the steam bar! Save some stomach for the rice dish. Truly delicious!
