The room was pleasant. The bed was very comfortable. But, the chair in my room was broken, and I wasn’t told about the lounge. The host was welcoming and made breakfast to order. She was hard to find, though. Everything was a little haphazard, but homey.

Host is trying hard but the property is old and not very clean. Chicken poop everywhere near the entrance didn’t help. Bathroom needed cleaning.
On the plus side the bed was comfortable and the bedroom clean. Breakfast was good.
We had an excellent stay. The room was very clean and comfortable. Everything was exactly as described. Breakfast in the morning was top notch! We would definitely stop here again if we pass back through.

This is a quiet location and easy to find. It has a working-farm vibe rather than a luxury-vacation vibe. French toast was delicious. Guest meals are prepared in a home kitchen without a dishwasher or secondary sink.
It's disappointing, this property has potential. It's in a nice location, easy to find, and has a nice wrap around deck on two levels.
Unfortunately, it's not maintained and it is GROSS. When you enter, there's no check-in area, but rather a cluttered home of someone who does not clean. The rugs and hallways are filthy, the room had cobwebs and dust and a stained comforter, and the bathroom was dirty and looked like the tile floor had never seen a mop. The "amenities" were a watered-down bottle of dollar store hand soap, and a couple of partially empty bottles of shampoo..
The kitchen is DISGUSTING. Piled high dirty dishes in the sink in the morning before they even started serving breakfast - left over from the night before. Dirty pans on the stove top. There is no dishwasher. The trash can was overflowing. The breakfast eating area had dust and crumbs on the floor, a sticky table with crumbs on it, and juice glasses that were cloudy and looked like they hadn't been washed. The coffee maker was filthy, and piles of used coffee filters and wet coffee grounds were stacked on the table next to the coffee maker. No jelly available for toast, a stick of community butter with crumbs in it... just a gross place to eat. And to top it off, the owner was wearing what looked like her pajamas with dirty stains on her shirt.
I recommend unless you're really stuck and can't find anywhere else to stay, don't stay here.
On arrival, we walked into what appeared to be someone’s very messy home. Slight smell of cigarette smoke, coats everywhere and a kitchen full of unwashed dishes, food left on the counters, and a man sitting at the kitchen table with his shirt off. Walking up to the “office” entrance from parking, we walked past an outdoor table with a meat slicing machine wrapped in plastic. We nearly didn’t stay, but needed a bed and the room seemed the cleanest part of the house and good enough for a night. Sheets were clean and room was fine, even though decorated with a folding metal chair. There was, however, AC in the bedroom on a very hot night which we were grateful for. The common bathrooms were not clean including hairballs and areas behind the sink that clearly hadn’t been wiped for some time. Left at first light and didn’t stay for breakfast.
Property is very clean, Bed was very comfortable, Owner is very attentive to stay and Breakfast is Amazing. Fresh eggs from her own hens. Will definitely return.
Comfortable room in a charming old farmhouse in the lovely northwest corner of Connecticut, between Canaan and Norfolk. Gracious host, plentiful breakfast, reasonably priced.
