Located behind this gated wall is the home that Joseph Kennedy purchased in 1933 as a family winter home. It was here that Future President John F Kennedy wrote his inaugural address and selected his cabinet. It was also here that Joseph Kennedy had a stroke in 1961 that left him unable to speak. And, it was here that JFKs nephew William Kennedy Smith was accused and acquitted of rape in 1991.  The home was sold for 4.9 Million dollars in 1995.
