Playa Vega Baja, also known as Playa Puerto Nuevo and La Playa Sucia is a serene little beach sheltered from the windy North Atlantic swells by a quarter mile long natural rock wall. There are some natural pools that form when sea water overtops the rock walls and provide a natural alternative for those afraid of the open waters. This is one of the best calm beaches within an hour of San Juan, and a favorite of locals. There’s plenty of parking and lots of vendors selling food, drink, and beach gear to visitors.
