We loved our stay! The kids rotated who slept on the couch, so that wasn’t much of an issue. Pickleball in such a beautiful setting made sleeping on the couch worth it!
Make sure to double check the address with the owner. VRBO had the wrong address, so we had to contact the owner in order to find the house. Tim responded quickly and helped us find our way.
Most of the roads, including the scenic drive, in Capitol Reef were closed. This made exploration challenging. We chose to do one short hike in the park, Hickman Bridge, and spend the majority of our time in Fishlake National Forest. Our whole family loved canyoneering with Capitol Reef Adventure Company!
If you need more than a few basic groceries, it’s worth the drive into Loa to a main grocery store. Chuck Wagon General Store was great for a few quick items and boxed lunches to take for a full day hiking.
We’d love to visit the area again when more of the park is accessible and wouldn’t hesitate to stay at the Elk Ranch again.
