The COVID-19 outbreak has changed how we travel, but it hasn't shut down our enthusiasm for exploring. Here are some tips on how to navigate the new challenges of traveling:

• Find out if any travel restrictions apply to your destination and origin before booking anything. Also check if there are any requirements you'll have to follow on arrival, such as testing and quarantining.
• When you go through airport checkpoints, keep your face mask on. You will be required to briefly lower it to confirm your identity. Anyone refusing to wear a mask may be fined and denied entry.
• Rather than handing a TSA employee your boarding pass, position it straight on the reader yourself. When that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• TSA now allows passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will have to be removed from your bag and submitted for screening.
• To minimize handling during the screening process, place personal items such as your phone, keys and wallet into your carry-on instead of into the bins.
• If you're taking food through the screening checkpoint, put it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA agent will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for closer inspection.
