Hidden Gem, highly recommend this property. The onsite restaurant although only a few options is 5 star plus in quality and service.Great wine selection and moderate pricing. I would book this restaurant even if not staying at the property. Great breakfast also.

I am sure that we are not the first people to “discover” The Retreat at Froog-Moore Park. Coming up from Sydney to attend to an urgent matter we booked by chance and found ourselves in a different world. Not at all what we expected. Peter and Sandy have a background in shopfitting and design as well as a passion for travel and cooking superb food. Much of the produce is grown on site. The result is themed rooms with great attention to detail. Every element is chosen with care. The food is carefully crafted and delightfully surprising. We felt welcomed and totally at home from the moment we walked in. Not your usual accommodation . A really lovely experience.

Different, but nice

A most unusual place! Peter was an excellent host - very friendly and helpful. The room was very dark, and all the decor was rather unusual, if eclectic. The breakfast was fantastic. The retreat is not at its best in the drought - a lot of the garden is looking very sad. I'm not sure what they are trying to achieve, but I wish them luck finding it.

Wonderful place to stay.... and the owners, Sandy and Peter, are such lovely people who will go out of their way to ensure your needs are catered for in their beautifully furbished rooms and surrounds. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Tamworth

A Different World

Lots of lovely little touches you won't find in other accommodation. Its also pretty wild, kooky, warm and friendly. A hell of a lot of time and care has been put into making this a special stay. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to sample Sandy's stunning cooking due to work but I will make sure to when I return. I very much appreciate it when people make an effort to ensure their properties are environmentally friendly and this is the case here. If you're after a stay that is unique and memorable, pick The Retreat at Froog-Moore Park.

Not in any way a standard motel stay

We were looking for an overnight stay on the New England highway and are bored by chain motels. The Retreat at Froog-Moore was a bit of a gamble but we were very happy with it. There are only five rooms, each with a different theme. Ours was Japanese and surprisingly authentic with lots of lovely touches in the decoration. The owners are Peter and Sandy Moore and Sandy is the cook and Peter is the host. We had dinner in the rather flamboyantly decorated “gallery” which is also the bar, lounge and breakfast room. Only 2 choices of main course but we chose one each and both delicious. But breakfast was even better with Moroccan scrambled eggs on homemade sourdough bread and great coffee. Not a cheap night (breakfast was not included and $26 each I recall but worth it!) but a huge improvement on a boring motel.

A stop-over with a twist

A spur of the moment decision to stay at Froog-Moore Park. We booked the dungeon room which was certainly less conventional than the norm. It was a exceptionally clean room and certainly sets a mood. I would return to Froog-Moore again.

Quiet but convenient

This is a b and b with a difference, excellent accomodation, on the edge of Tamworth but 5 mins to my meetings, no need to go out to dinner or breakfast, mine host is a superb chef and looked after my soecial dietary requirements with consumate ease, highly recommend you eat in ,

Unexpectedly refreshing refuge for couples

Do yourself a favor and spend a few days at The Retreat. Set on a large acreage with manicured gardens, it offers a very quirky ambient, with lavish ornaments and truly world class food, mostly grown in-house. Although it is classified as 5 stars, the staff are very relaxed and friendly. I have traveled extensively, staying in many different hotels, but this place is somehow quite unique. Quiet and comfortable

Had a short overnight stay. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Stayed in the Moroccan room and it was very comfortable and nice size. Garden and surrounds are really nice for a stroll or sit and ponder. Would happily return.

Visually Stimulating

Peter and Sandy provided an hospital service from the moment we walked into The Retreat, including catering to our special diet. Not your ordinary hotel. The rooms are decorated in art deco/ vintage style with beautiful ornaments and the garden is just great to wander through or sit and contemplate. A very quiet environment for relaxation. A real treat.

Comfortable and querky

I had a relaxing time. The room was spacious and comfortable with everything I needed. The food was amazing. The location was quiet. The garden was a beautiful place to spend time in. The hosts were welcoming and there whenever you needed them. There was also private access to the room which was great.

Funky Five Star Design

What a surprise finding this gem in Tamworth. Designer owners Sandy and Peter have created a feast for the eyes with themed rooms, quirky decor and Sandy's superb home cooking with ingredients from their organic garden. Delightful!

Special place to stay.

Lovely quiet accommodation. Japanese decor was lovely. Big shower recess. Beautiful gardens outside room. Very comfortable bed with electric blanket.

Stunning, Something completely unexpected and not to be to rude but in Tamworth ????? One of the best experiences Ive ever had traveling, well equipped and services rooms, great food and a quiet location ... What more could you need

Real gem in Tamworth!

Peter and Sandy were gracious hosts who really made us feel welcome. We enjoyed their lovely garden as well as the comfortable and funky themed rooms. Well worth staying and they are more than happy to cater for any dietary needs. We would definitely recommend and stay at Froogmore again.

Great place to celebrate our anniversary

We spent our 30th wedding anniversary at the Retreat at Froog Moore Park. From entering the hotel until we left we felt totally spoilt. Beautiful room, amazing delicious dinner full of surprising tastes. Breakfast was also a culinary delight. Absolutely loved every minute of our stay.

Uniquely spectacular!

Just fabulous!!! And different from the run-of-the-mill hotels. Sandy's cooking was so tasty, well presented, and so fresh. I will be staying there again and again, if I am lucky enough.

Glorious garden and exotic bedrom

We stayed for one night on a road trip on the mountain route from Sydney to the Gold Coast. Fantastic garden which really made it a great stop. Disappointed that the owners were away so we couldn't eat in but it was reflected in the price- it would have been helpful to know when booking though.

Classy and Different

Thought we'd try something different as part of a short country driving holiday. The owners were very welcoming and very helpful. Location is well away from the centre of town and so very peaceful and quiet. I had called earlier in the week to talk about my wife's various dietary restrictions and there was no problem with these being catered for - with a lovely meal. For a special treat, wonderful service and lovely surroundings it is definitely worth it.

An oasis in the desert of motels......

Travelling on the new Engalnd highway from QLD to Sydney I was searching for something other than this Motel, that Motel.....looking around the Tamworth area, this one stood out. Themed rooms, a real retreat away from the hustle and bustle and anticipation of good food meant I booked it straight away. After a long journey from QLD through terrible rain we arrived slightly after 7pm. Peter welcomed us in and after basic sign in he took us down to our room,....the dungeon.....!ha ha ha, what a great room, made out excellent to give an impression of old stone walls and bars, pretty dark but looked really comfortable and well kitted out.. Although arriving pretty late, he asked our preference for dinner and asked when we would like to eat, very flexible. Food was excellent, made by Sandy and well worth eating in, (a small 6-7 table dining area), allowed real personal service, a local glass of Shiraz and two excellent meals, followed by stick date home made was devine. Had a really relaxing nights stay, the retreat is like I said, an oasis in the desert of motels that are around this area. The hosts, Peter and Sandy are very hospitable and the retreat is excellent, highly recommend this if you enjoy a level of hospitality and quality. I would certainly recommend the dungeon to any couples who fancy a weekend away...! Overall great place and if travelling that way again would definitely stay here. Thanks.
