"Paid for 5 nights, stayed for 1. Host ignored multiple messages, phone number wouldn’t connect. Pillows and pullout mattress beyond unsanitary. Overpowering odour throughout property. Weirdly, there was attention to detail in some areas. Beautiful setting, well maintained garden, great location. Such wasted potential from an uncaring host. Had to book another accommodation for the remainder of my trip. Wasn’t expecting luxury but at the very least, basic hygiene standards and beds which could be...

The Wenns Chop & Ale House

The Wenns Chop & Ale House

8/10 Good
"Stayed for one night on Saturday 17th October. The accommodation wasn't quite as expected, but a pleasant surprise. What I thought we were getting was a 'normal' double room. However, it was in fact a whole apartment overlooking the wonderful Minster. The accommodation was very spacious, warm, comfortable and close to all amenities. The actual building is rather old, which reflected on some of the fixtures and fittings. The windows were the original old sash type and actually opened. However, they didn't block out the sound from outside. Being a pub/restaurant, it was rather noisy late at night when folk were leaving and bidding one another farewell (which seemed to last until midnight) But all in all, a pleasant stay, at a reasonable cost. We will certainly return."
