The Shipping Container Den in Red River Gorge is a modern, private retreat crafted from a repurposed shipping container. I've taken a shipping container with character and made a really unique and comfortable place to stay while you visit Red River Gorge. The cabin sits on the side of a hill with a spectacular view across the valley to the cliff line on the other side. While it is secluded, it is easy to get to. The road is paved all the way to the driveway of the cabin, which is flat and easy accessible. The cabin is completely climate controlled (Air Conditioning and Heat), has Spectrum TV, high speed WiFi and city water. The outside of the shipping container was left as it was while being in use. All of the dents and dings give it the character that I wanted. The inside is completely modern. It has maple walls, barn metal ceiling, hardwood flooring, designer cabinets and a 50 inch flat screen TV. The full bathroom has a spacious shower, toilet, vanity, and washer/dryer. Enjoy the outside by sitting by the stainless steel fire pit or soaking in the hot tub while watching the cliff line be illuminated by the setting sun. Wake up to the sunrise through the trees and the birds chirping in the woods. Go on a hike in Red River Gorge and come back to the cabin and relax in the hot tub. All linens, towels, wash rags, toilet paper, and soap is provided. This cabin is the perfect place for two people to enjoy and be super close to Red River Gorge.

Stayed 2 nights here for our 30th anniversary. First time to the Red River Gorge area. This little cabin (it's actually a shipping container which is unique) is perfect for two people. Everything you would need is thoughtfully included. Very clean and modern interior with a rustic exterior. The hot tub and fire pit are perfect after a long day of hiking. The stars at night were stunning. Amanda is a wonderful and accommodating host/owner. We cannot wait to come back and stay here. It will probably be when it's a little bit warmer outside, but the lack of crowds made up for that.

Everything We Wanted

We wanted to stay someplace that was quiet and peaceful that allowed us to enjoy what makes the area unique. We also wanted a kitchen, washer and dryer, and a hot tub. We could not have chosen a better place to stay! The owners are gracious and have obviously put a lot of thought and care into their units. We had a lot of questions and host Amanda kindly answered everything. The location was perfect, giving us immediate access to all of the hiking and parks, and surprisingly only about an hour from Lexington.At her suggestion we did bring a couple of extra blankets in case we needed them (March trip) but were very comfortable. We also brought our own towels for the hot tub.It's a single shipping container so it's exactly as pictured - one large room with a separate NICE bathroom.
