I actually love this little quaint bed & breakfast. My family is from the island & when I want to stay more “local” this is my go to spot. Howeverrrrr, this last experience was a little terrifying. For context: My shoe sz is a womans 5. A humongous COCKROACH the size of my hand or foot, met me with zero fear in room 44. I screamed, tried to crush it, and to no avail (probably due to its obnoxious size) didn’t even flinch or scurry like most insects & rodents do when a human is near. The apps on the TV also did not work & I was advised by the young receptionist “we have to use our own accounts to sign in and enjoy entertainment” (weird) The water in 44 never, ever got hot. I was met with grace by Ms Joanne (manager/owner) & relocated to another room being told the roach was due to the water downpour just earlier and she also explained each room had hot water-aside from my experience. The room I was moved to, although beautiful, smelled of terrible old cigarette smoke. Like it was imbedded into the paint and/or furniture, not something that could be quickly aired out or febreezed. This room also did not have WiFi or TV entertainment. I was told it would take potentially days to a week to fix the internet/cable issue. The last room I was moved to #24 must be where “old money” patrons are put! It was huge, very modern and updated, every single app (Netflix, Hulu Disney+,etc.) worked without error. Wifi was 10/10 strong, and the water was piping hot!

Common areas were nice and staff was quite good but room though clean enough was surprisingly shabby particularly the bathroom which had a missing knob in the shower and the vanity was in bad shape. No smoke alarm either.

Staff was super friendly and welcoming! Breakfast was delicious and the view from the hill was lovely! The restaurant for dinner was delicious and drinks are amazing! Great location easy to get to black beard castle or take a quick taxi / walk to the ferry terminal to get to St. John. Just a quick drive to the airport. If you’re a beach hopper or someone on the go that needs a place to rest that’s clean and easy to access then this is your place!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. However the room is overdue for improvements. The balcony door did not lock and the water pressure was low on the upper floors. The steps are definitely a work out if you lots of bags.

Absolutely enjoyed every minute of this trip. Joanna was absolutely incredible and the family that owns the property and their are INCREDIBLY accommodating. We stayed at this hotel for one night and for the price that we paid, we couldn’t have been happier with what we received. The front desk staff attendant was very friendly and efficient and took care of everything. There are a lot of steps in this very historic property but it’s a really cool building and they keep it up really well. We were there just as the airspace shut down happened after Venezuela and I was so impressed with how the staff was trying to help everyone out. If you are looking for a quick place to stay and don’t want to spend a lot of money, this hotel is definitely for you. I was so pleasantly surprised. Thank you very much to everyone.

“Outdoor pool” was a 12x10 little rooftop thing. The breakfast area also sat around another trapezoid shaped 8 x 6 “pool” There are NO elevators. If you are on the top floor, be prepared to haul your luggage up at least 60 stairs. The building itself is showing its age. It’s absolutely a “fixer-upper” type of property. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Breakfast starts too late, the A/C wanted to come off the wall, no internet services and no TV services, and the restaurant was not opened at night time.

The daily breakfast was awesome - good food, beautiful view, and absolutely wonderful staff. I also enjoyed the Sugarcane Grill for drinks and dinner. Small, quiet, reasonably priced hotel conveniently located. You MUST be able to climb steps for pretty much all rooms - top floors are 3 flights up. BTW: YOU NEED CASH FOR TAXIS, which is the only way around (we didn't know this!). ATMs aren't always working, so get more than you need when you have the chance.
