About this property

Unique nature experience on the water, Bed in boat Jisperveld

  • A unique nature experience on the water—with its own garden and views of the Jisperveld

A historic, charming, and cozy tjalk that now offers a special place to stay, tucked away in the breathtaking Jisperveld. Here you’ll be surrounded by silence, reeds, and the glistening water of one of Europe’s most beautiful peat meadow areas.
Located on private property in the heart of the Natura 2000 area.

Next to the boat is a private terrace with a garden, where you can enjoy the greenery, the view, and the rhythm of the land and water in complete privacy. A special surprise: the bathroom facilities are housed in a beautifully converted, large wine barrel—completely in keeping with the natural surroundings. Here you’ll find a comfortable shower and a toilet, surprisingly spacious and offering a unique experience.
Inside the tjalk itself, there is 1 toilet, a small kitchen with a 4-burner gas stove and a refrigerator, a small living area with a bench, a flat-screen TV, and a wood-burning stove, and 1 bedroom with a double bed

    About us: Mike & Ramona

We’re brother and sister, raised in this area and have always remained connected to the water, the animals, and the landscape. Our dream is to help people rediscover what it’s like to truly be outdoors—in silence, simplicity, and beauty. That’s why we love sharing this place.

    What you’ll find here:

    Smoke-free, cozy tjalk
Private garden and terrace, right next to the boat
Unique bathroom in a converted wine barrel
View of the Jisperveld nature reserve and the historic “Jispersluis” lock
Located on a private property with miniature horses, free-range chickens, and Bengal cats
Surrounded by wild nature: grebes, kingfishers, songbirds, and more

You’re in the Wormerand Jisperveld, a unique nature reserve that is part of the protected Natura 2000 network. This landscape of narrow ditches, green meadows, and swaying reed beds is affectionately called “the Veld” by the locals. In the spring, it’s teeming with life: black-tailed godwits, lapwings, bluethroats, and bearded reedlings are out in full force—and who knows, you might even spot a marsh harrier soaring overhead or a kingfisher perched right beside you.

Let yourself be carried away by the rhythm of the water, listen to the rustling of the reeds, and feel the wind in your hair. Whether you’re scanning for birds with binoculars, walking in silence along the old paths, or enjoying a sunset from the deck of the tjalk—in the Veld, you’ll always experience something special.

    Things to do here
Hike along quiet trails, surrounded by nothing but nature and birdsong
Discover the Beemster World Heritage Site, a masterpiece of water management
Swim in the Noordhollands Kanaal, right by the historic Jispersluis
Experience the tranquility of the farmland, combined with the vastness of water and sky

Extras to make your stay even more special:
    - Boat tour through the Jisperveld, led by a local guide
    - Kayaking through the reeds, along old dikes and hidden ditches
    - Sunset dinner, surrounded by nature
    - Walking with miniature horses—a gentle, special encounter
    - A private movie night at our charming venue, The Cove, which is also located on-site
    - A visit to a unique studio featuring art made from driftwood and gemstones
    - A behind-the-scenes tour of the Jispersluis—where history comes to life

Will you also find peace in the Veld?
Book an unforgettable overnight stay on our tjalk and let yourself be swept away by the magic of the Jisperveld.
