The Tidewater cottage is attractive and comfortable. It has a nice small semi-private back deck where we listened to the frogs and birds as we breakfasted. We saw very few people on the walkways; it felt sufficiently private. The pond is beautiful and we hiked from the property through Conservation lands and the National Seashore to Whitecrest Beach (with a few minutes walking on the road). It took maybe 45 minutes or so. We could also take our bikes from the property onto the back roads without dealing with Route 6. The owners were very attentive and prompt when I notified them at 10 pm that we had a problem with the air conditioning in our room. They resolved it. Be aware though that it is very close to Route 6 and the road noise is constant, though okay with the windows and doors closed and the AC on. Also it is very small, smaller than it looks in the wide-angle pictures. Though it sleeps four, we were only two. Our daughter couldn't make it and I'm very glad we didn't invite friends to take her place. If you need to get up a lot at night, you might not like the spiral staircase from the primary bedroom in the loft, but it is very sturdy and not at all slipperty. The plus side of being so close to Route 6 is that it was very easy and quick to drive everywhere. We mostly only hung out at home in the mornings. There is no grill and we did not attempt to cook dinners.
