I recently stayed at this motel with my family during my graduation weekend, and unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant. When I made the reservation, I specifically requested a non-smoking room. At check-in, the front desk staff member, who had a very strong accent, seemed to be confirming the room details. Exhausted from traveling with my family, I assumed they were confirming that we were assigned a non-smoking room, so I simply nodded in agreement.
Unfortunately, when we arrived at our room, we were overwhelmed by a strong smell of cigarette smoke. It was unmistakably a smoking room, which was extremely uncomfortable for my family, none of whom smoke. This led to confusion, as my family thought I had requested a smoking room, which wasn’t the case.
If I had been more attentive and double-checked the reservation details, I could have caught the issue immediately. However, the staff should also have been clear about the room type they were assigning to us, especially since my reservation explicitly requested non-smoking.
Due to this miscommunication, we ended up checking out early. I felt terrible for my family, who had to endure the discomfort, and it put a damper on what should have been a joyful weekend.
Overall, this experience left us disappointed. I hope the motel can improve its check-in process to avoid misunderstandings like this in the future.
