Starting with the good... well equipped, modest condo with everything you supplied in the kitchen. The high ceilings are a nice touch. Very clean. Superb location and views off the deck. It's an easy walk to the pool, almost all indoors so you don't freeze. There is a ski locker, but the locker wasn't marked properly, or else we just couldn't find it. There are like 50 lockers downstairs, none in alphanumeric order which is aggravating. We had to keep all our skis on the deck. The furniture was mostly sturdy and clean.
Now for the bad. The bedding is awful. Pillows must be 10 years old. Yuck. Smelly and lumpy. Comforter is a bit stinky. Mattress pretty hard. We never got a good night's sleep... us or the kids. It's pennywise and pound-foolish to cut corners with the bedding. It's literally the most important thing in an accomodation - comfy sleeping.
We were turned off by the builder grade EVERYTHING in the condo. Cheapo stove, microwave, noisy dishwasher, fridge, window blinds, artwork, patio furniture. Huge corners cut in every place possible. It's noticable. The fireplace is a tiny flame, either it's a cheap fireplace or the gas is turned down, but it doesn't add to the ambience.
Lastly, the master bath has such an amateurish tile job that we took photos of it. Looks like a DIY job, for a first time tile attempt. The shower trim, the floor tile has a huge gap leading into the laundry room - wow. Amateur hour. The shower handles in both bathrooms is cheap, loose plastic. Ultra cheap fixtures. Hard to get the temperature correct.
There is another floor on top of you, so the clomping around was extreme for us a few nights. The secondary bedroom is especially victimized because it's right under the unit's patio above. Oh well, that's condo living for you.
Overall, we wouldn't stay in this unit again, but we loved the building and Solitude Village. We had a nice time, but far too many corners have been cut on decor and fixtures to warrant the price per night. I'm all about being thrifty where it won't be noticed, but these are blantant chintzy decisions on the part of the owners. Bedding that subpar doesn't even belong in a 2-star hotel.
