Almost excellent. Charming. Beautifully decorated. Convenient to Aarhus & Silkeborg. Rooms could have used a lick of fresh paint and bathrooms needed updating. Also a vacuum in the hallway. Dinner in the dining room was very well prepared, albeit with a limited menu. Could easily be so much more. Still, we enjoyed it more than the star ratings suggest. So romantic!

Well, I really like the big grand fasade, great garden and it’s very charming but desperately needs a freshen up. The room was clean. Good to know would be that the restaurant is closed on Mondays. Yes, I was hungry when I arrived after a long day and this place is kinda far away from anything eatable. That was a mistake. I was really looking forward to have dinner. The water pressure in the shower is close to non is you like to have a hot shower. Breakfast… 150DKK for a cup of coffee and a sandwich was little over the top. You should expect little more for that price. The pictures shown on their webpage and Hotels.com does not match the reality. But I slept well and I got my morning coffee. I believe the experience would have been better got there any other day when the restaurant and bar are open, more people buzzing around.

Magnificent

Lovely place. The staff is super friendly and extremely service minded. Room was nice even if there are some signs of needed maintenance. It,s not another random hotel, it,s a place with lot of history and a special atmosphere. All in all are fantastic experince.

This castle has seen better days❤️‍🩹 very small room, TV was out of order. Lamps in bathroom was barely hanging in there. Worst was the lack of service. We do not blame the staff, but the management who did not train the highschool girls that were to serve us. The breakfast was a laugh. All this does not sum up to a 4 star hotel.

Det trænger virkelig til en kærlig hånd det udvendige indtryk matcher på ingen måde, det der møder en når man kommer ind. F.eks. så var topmadrassen ca 10cm mindre en selve sengen på hver side så man “falder” halvt ud..gardiner der ikke kan dække hele vinduerne så der kan kigges ind. Der er beskidt og støvet og meget slidt. Desuden så forsøgte jeg at bestille tidlig check in og sen udtjekning ved at skrive til hotellet uden svar. Jeg snakker så med dem i telefonen hvor de bekræfter de har modtaget beskeden uden at svare. De undlader dog at sige at der er livstilsmesse på stedet så hele slottet er lukket for parkering så du skal holde på marken eller på den tidligere mødding i mudder osv. detsuden skal du gå mellem gæster og boder ind med din bagage. Til skue, ydermere er slottet åben for besøgende. Så de går over det hele fra tidlig morgen til aften som om man er en del af en udstilling. Hvilket ikke føles privat når man ønsker et slotsophold. Morgenmaden er nærmest ikke eksisterende med over 50 hotelovernatninger om året så må dette være den mindste morgen buffet jeg har set.

Det første værelse vi fik tildelt var ikke gjort rent fra tidligere beboere nummer to værelse var nogenlunde men der var ikke gjort særlig rent. Spindelvæv i lysekrone, døde fluer i loftet og vinduer og tv virkede ikke. Morgenmad lørdag rimelig men søndag, de første to kopper til kaffe beskidte, morgenbrød tørt og trist samt æg der skulle være blødkogt var hårdkogt. Så alt i alt en kedelig oplevelse.

Hotel med skøn beliggenhed. Og så var det også sagt. Vi ankom kl 15.30 og selvom der stod vi kunne tjekke ind 15.00 var værelset ikke rengjort. Værelset var smudsigt og ingen sæbe i dispenser. Vinduet var ved at falde ud da vi åbnede det. Vi skulle videre til fest og spurgte om vi kunne efterlade nøgle i reception, som man jo normalt gør. Det blev der sagt ja til. Da vi kom til hotel igen omkring kl 23.00 var receptionen lukket, og vi kunne ikke få vores nøgle eller kontakt til nogen på hotellet. Vi fik hjælp til at komme ind på usædvanlig facon. Morgenmad er kanonkugler af boller med ost og rullepølse. Det var havregryn og corn flakes, men ingen mælk. Der var varmt vand men ingen the breve. Jeg vil ikke anbefale stedet til nogen.

Sophiendal er virkelig et idylisk sted og dog var der kun få overnattende en mandag aften. Jeg havde næsten stedet for mig selv. Receptionen lukker kl. 15, men der var lagt nøgle frem til mig. Personalet næste morgen var yderst hjælpsom og venlige. Alt i alt nød jeg opholdet på dette smukke sted meget.

Stemningsfuldt sted, dog nedslidt, kunne trænge til en kærlig hånd. Det føles ikke som et lukssriøst ophold. Badeværelset var som på et vandrerhjem, hvidt, småt og uden sjæl. Fin morgenmad, uden at være prangende.

Morgenmaden var lidt skrabet til den pris. Aftensmaden var superlækker. Værelset virkelig flot med flotte plissegardiner ( som dog var meget støvede øverst oppe). Flotte omgivelser og venligt personale. Alt i alt en anbefaling værd.
