Sintra Postal Apartment - Central Location - UNESCO World Cultural Landscape
10.0 out of 10, Exceptional, (7)
"“Wow!” What can we say, we had a wonderful experience in this quaint apartment right in the middle of the Old Historic Unesco Centre. We were met by Miguel on arrival and he assisted us getting to the apartment as no vehicles are allowed in the Historic Centre. Miguel spent a fair amount of time explaining the ins and outs of the apartment and reviewed the many things to see and do in Sintra and surrounding area. We were provided a bottle of lovely Portuguese red wine and scrumptious cookies to...

Chalet Saudade
3.0 star property
9.8 out of 10, Exceptional, (673)
"Christina was very helpful getting us oriented. We were a little disappointed that the breakfast part was not actually at the Chalet, it was up at the Saudade cafe, a short walk away. Also, there was no free coffee on premises, only tea. Why is this? Bed was comfortable and room was quiet at night, as long as guests above went to bed. Floors very creaky. This location is not very close to area attractions or old town, so there is a lot of walking on very steep hills. You need to be in shape! "

"I knew it was madness even to drive TO Sintra. But the hotel was very helpful in trying to help me manage the downsides of coming by car. They advised I park the car immediately and use Ubers, taxis, or TukTuk to get around locally. Check! They had awkward, but OK off-site parking in an enclosed lot a few minutes walk from the hotel. Not great! The keypad activated door closed with us inside the lot. One [70 ] person had to climb over the enclosure wall to let the others out! [No keypad...

"There is little or nothing to say about the stay, since we didnt get to stay. It was a busted couple of days. It is largely my fault for not doing my homework. First I should of asked was there parking available near or on the porperty. As it turns out it was no. This particular time the town was full and the parking is on a public road two streets over on a one way drive. The thing to do to visit Sintra is to book a hotel in Lisbon and take the train or bus to the town. "

"Lena was an amazing hostess. Breakfast was really great (and GF!). Our room (#4) was huge and the patio was great. Facilities are a bit old but the amenities (kitchen access, patio, living room, free wifi, self service bar) we're all fantastic. Noise from a nearby road can be loud but it wasn't a huge bother for us."
