Great place and awesome town.

I was extremely disappointed with my stay. The photos and the high price tag make it look like a luxury hotel, but that is far from reality. To start, the hotel doesn't even have a pool, and the bar area has nowhere to sit. The air conditioning in the room takes forever to turn on, making it incredibly uncomfortable every time we walked in. The shower stall is tiny and completely floods the bathroom floor. However, the biggest disappointment was the beach club. The beach is shared with a public club that rents out chairs, so it was completely packed. There was no way to relax, as we were stuck between crying kids throwing slippers at each other. The beach service was painfully slow; we had to constantly wave our hands hoping a waiter would eventually look at us. When the food finally arrived, it was immediately covered in ants, and we had to throw it away. We were so frustrated that we left the hotel less than 2 hours after checking in and only came back to sleep. To top it all off, they couldn't even manage to get us a dinner reservation at the restaurant before 9:30 PM. Save your money—this place is definitely not worth it.

We were very much looking forward to our stay at the Mare Resort but unfortunately our four nights were ruined as the hotel was being used to support the build of a massive stage and other supporting infrastructure for a concert outside the front door of the hotel. The noise and disruption to our use of the hotel as guests was totally unacceptable. We received no prior warning that there may be this level of disruption to enable us to review our booking which again is totally unacceptable behaviour on the part of the hotel owners who we assume profited from renting space and rooms to the concert organisers. On this basis the hotel should have been closed to normal guests and rented totally to the concert organisers. Other comments: 1. We were denied access to the hotel by concert security staff on a number of occasions and had to negotiate our way in! 2. Breakfast was very low quality produce served in a dimly lit meeting room with no outside windows. 3. The lifts were not working for extended periods. 4. Sound and lighting equipment were all over the place being moved to the third floor. 5. The only positive were the staff who were very apologetic and to be honest appeared embarrassed that paying guests were treated so badly.

The property is very unique and the staff helpful. However, no one asked us to register, people were very relaxed about paperwork and didn't seem aware of our stay as we hqd to confirm it many yltimes. Staff helped ua load our vehicles and took our keys but nevwe asked to settle the bill. About an hoir later while we were well on our way, they called to ask us to pay. We gqve them our visa number and info but the demanded a cheque, money transfer or cash. Terrible. My nephew who had hia wedding there ended up paying as they refused the crefit card. Not impressed!
