The Savannah Children’s Museum is located in the lower level and upper courtyard of the old Central of Georgia Railway Carpentry Shop. This site also includes the Georgia State Railroad Museum. See an early-20th century functioning train turntable and many historic steam and diesel locomotives. This fascinating railroad museum also features 13 of the retired railroad complex’s original buildings.
Continue the family fun at Forsyth Park, located about a mile (1.6 kilometers) from Savannah Children’s Museum. This park features sporting areas, including tennis and basketball courts. Find Savannah Children’s Museum in the historic downtown district. The museum is open Monday to Saturday during the summer and Wednesday to Sunday during the remainder of the year.
