Lines of communication were horrific. Benchmark was going to send an inspector first thing Monday morning. After waiting 2+ hours with no inspector, we found another place to rent and told Tiffany that we were vacating this property for health hazards and filthiness, and that we were going to dispute all charges.
We got a text message from Benchmark on Monday afternoon that they were going to send Florida Pest control over and Benchmark would come over after the house was treated by pest control....and they would change the sheets for us. We got another text message that Florida Pest control came over to the cottage THURSDAY and set some traps, and if any of the traps went off, FL Pest would come and remove them....3 days after we vacated the cottage. Thursday afternoon, Benchmark texted us and said finding alternate accomodations was a reasonable decision.
Until major upgrades and rat problems are addressed, this rental should be shut down. Location was terrific, but the house is in extreme disrepair. Also, this house was definitely not cleaned before we arrived. I only got text messages from Benchmark, no verbal communication at all. If I had been in there position, I would've shown my face and apologized for the extreme trauma caused to my family. If I could give Benchmark a rating of negative stars, they deserve it.
