Joaquín is one of the most personable hosts I've met and so gracious to share this oasis with travelers. Located just a few minutes from a small town with plenty of dining options, you get the feeling you're part of the rainforest while being treated to views of San Juan and the ocean. The property is LUSH so if nature is your thing you will love it! I found it through a birding group and was not disappointed in the amount and variety of birds I saw there. San Juan was about a 30-40 minute drive depending on traffic and the eastern beaches were also about that far. El Yunque is literally up the road offering jaw-dropping views of waterfalls and rock formations. It feels like dinosaurs will walk out at any moment! There is also a little supermercado up the street which has a deli and offers a variety of snacks and drinks. There is a common area with coffee maker, tea, and communal fridge and rooms have their own fridge also so you can stock up before stores close at night. The front gate stays locked and guests have their own keys to come and go as they wish while everyone feels safe, not that I ever felt unsafe anywhere in that area.
This would be a great spot for a small birding group to travel or a family gathering. If you want hustle and bustle with glaring lights and noise then you'll probably be disappointed, although Joaquín DOES do salsa lessons and it gets lively lol
I would definitely stay here again!
