"Hotel Belmar was the perfect place to stay in Monteverde. Since we were working remotely for most of our trip, the meeting rooms and Wi-Fi were excellent—quiet, comfortable, and reliable for video calls. The biggest surprise was the birdlife around the hotel. We actually saw more birds from the terrace than on some of the wildlife tours we took. Since we were working and couldn’t spend all day exploring, it felt like we had our own birdwatching experience right from the hotel. We could even spot birds while working from the meeting room, which made the workdays feel pretty special."

"This was by far our favorite property we stayed at on our CR vacation which included 5 different hotels. This hotel was peaceful, felt private and truly dedicated to Mother Earth. The food was excellent. The night time hike tour was wonderful. Views are amazing. Wish we had booked it for more nights."

"Our stay at Cala Lodge was an absolute delight! What a very special place Francisco and family have created! We loved staying in the Mathilda House. It was perfect for our family of 5, ages 14-82, nestled in the cloud forest with floor to ceiling windows. It was incredible to see wildlife pass by, we felt lucky to be guests in their well-loved and protected forest. We had dreams and conversations with the howler monkeys throughout the night, and agoutis, coatis and diverse birds were easily seen from the living area and rooms. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Our home was clean, spacious, beautifully contemporary, and well-provisioned, and we received quick support when we had needs or questions. Breakfast was delicious and enjoyed with stunning view over the mountains. We loved exploring the trails and talking with other happy travelers. I will recommend Cala Lodge to family and friends and am grateful for the time that we enjoyed there!"

"The grounds were really nice. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The nature walk behind the hotel was nice with tropical plants, hummingbirds, butterflies and we even saw a coatimundi. The pool bar had great ambiance. Bathroom could have used a bit more counter space but it was perfectly serviceable. Room was basic but clean. Right across the street was a small mall with a grocery store, several restaurants, bank and shopping. The included breakfast buffet was really nice."
