Jacques and Monique (the owners) have a fabulous property in Chateau Laubertie that looks, feels and lives up to the photographic images if not surpasses them in real life. They are quite rightly proud of what they have achieved and if the truffle wood being grown in a corner of the estate comes to fruition, it will make Laubertie an even more special place. We would not fault anything and we had no inclination to do so during or after our stay. We had a wonderful 2 weeks with many memories and the ability to be totally relaxed and enjoy ourselves and be with our family. Jacques and Monique are on hand to offer advice or help if needed and in fact, they thanked us for looking after their castle which we felt honoured to be able to do so. We are a family group of 6 adults and 4 children aged 9, 4, 4 and 20 months. At no time were the children bored and neither were the adults. The Chateau is ideal for a family group, a short drive to the local shops (Sorges and Negrondes) but far enough away and secluded to be able to enjoy either the total peace and quiet or for the kids to make a lot of noise and not disturb any neighbours. All the facilities are there both for practical and for amusement, plenty of literature to read on local amenities and tourist sites, just over an hour's drive to Bergerac or Brive or Sarlat and 30 minutes to Perigueux for the hypermarket and shopping centre and of course, Perigueux old town itself. Wildlife abounds in the grounds and surrounding areas adding to the ambiance. We have many happy memories to take back with us and we will be telling all our family, friends and neighbours back in the UK just how fabulous our holiday was and just how lucky we were to find and stay at Chateau Laubertie.
