9/10 Wonderful! (582 reviews)
This place has no AC, I’m sure that 9 months out of the year this might not be a problem , but during the Summer months, it’s nearly uninhabitable in their rooms. When we first checked in and realized there was no AC, we panicked and called the reception desk, they confirmed there was no AC. I asked if we could cancel and I was willing to pay 50% of our entire stay as a cancellation fee, and leave right there and then. They said no refunds would be possible. The coolest day that week was 93 degrees. We had a great time in Paris, but never a relief in sight after long days, only a hot, hot room waiting for us. We took cold showers before bed and the women would leave their hair wet to make the night bearable. I probably would have given this property 5 stars if they had AC. How can any hotel that has hot Summers not have this? This should be a requirement before websites like Expedia even show their listing. Lesson learned , I will Always look at amenities more closely just to be sure, no longer will I assume.

7.4/10 Good! (86 reviews)
We were only staying in Paris for a night and if that is your plan then this hotel will be fine. Overall, the beds were comfortable (albeit slightly too soft for our liking) and we slept well. The triple room we were given was more like a double which they had squeezed a third bed into, so I would book two rooms if there is three of you. Apart from that, no other issues - central-ish location for Montmartre (about a 10/15 minute walk to main Montmartre), and very close to the Metro and Gare du Nord station so a good spot to visit other part of the city / region if you want to stay here for longer.

8.8/10 Excellent! (1,003 reviews)
Hotel Plaza Etoile is a great location and a hidden gem. It is so close to Arc de Triomphe that you catch glimpses of it through the trees, and just a quick walk to the metro. Great shops and restaurants are all around. The staff was extremely helpful, and the breakfast was delicious (although the little breakfast room does get stuffy in summer). We had the family suite. It had ample space for a family of four and lots of storage-- hard to find in old Parisian hotels. The not-so-good: the hotel does have AC, but it doesn't work well. It will take the edge off, but not get you anywhere near the American-level of AC you may be expecting if you are coming from the states. Also, because it is so close to Champs-Élysées, the street it is on is loud. There is a 24/7 cafe, Le General, right across the street, which can be loud (although they also have good drinks and friendly staff). The carpet in the rooms is also getting a little shabby. The tub is also extremely high and extremely slick. If you have mobility issues, I would be concerned about slipping and falling. All and all, I'd consider staying here again. It's a great hub for a Paris vacation.

"Basic hotel and healthy breakfast. Staff was very fussy in the beginning and we had to have a talk. After reminding them of their manners FIRMLY and that I was the customer, they fit back into proper service mode. They are a little too informal and afterwards were better, the day staff.
