"A true gem. This is my new go-to place for the first (and second) night in Cape Town. Most international flights arrive in the early morning and commercial downtown hotels do not let you check in before 3 pm. Most of us are exhausted. So make your way to Franschhoek against traffic and stop at some wineries on the way. Then rest at La Fontaine. Many fine restaurants within 0.5 miles. Lovely breakfast and exceptional service."

What are some issues: (1) No Liquor License although as of this date the property is applying for one, and hopefully when that is issued they will keep the restaurant open in the evening. (2) Noise. "Great location - a short walk to the promenade by Green Point lighthouse. There is a hot breakfast which is delicious and made to order. The front terrace is a nice place to sit out in the evenings, and there is an honesty bar. Place feels secure with a member of staff always on duty by the front gate.
