Overall the room No 8, was a little tired, needs a deep clean and decorating. The sofa bed well past its sell by. Badly stained and uncomfotable. Bed mattress comfy . Some may find 3 flights of stairs a problem. Parking not on road as inferred, 1 hour limit. Instructed to use cattle market. Ok but this isn't available every day so may be an issue if staying a full week. Cafe bistro very good but closed on our arrival on Saturday we had commitments on Sunday so only used Monday breakfast no complaints. Very friendly.
Room was spot on, comfy bed, spacious yet cosy room facilities outstanding, couldn’t ask for more.
Staff courteous and so helpful, brilliant weekend stay, highly recommend.
Staff great , very clean , very large room with extra comfy bed , only downside was the bathroom radiator wasn’t working so we told a young girl and she said it would get sorted but unfortunately it never so didn’t have anywhere to dry the towels
accommodation was lovely and clean. Breakfast was really good. Only one negative but in no way reflection on the hotel our room was on the high street right next to the town clock, so heard the chimes on the hour every hour. Hotel great location for visiting the dams.
We were in room 9 so when other guests going in and out of side entrance, door noisy would help if door has a silencer on it as room 9 right next to the exit. Good parking for motorbikes. Breakfast great.
I’d like to say that I’d stayed in worse places, but that would be dishonest, it’s diabolical. The carpets are absolutely minging, filthy!! The walls are like paper so I could hear everything in the next room. The whole place creaks with every movement of every guest so you get no sleep. To say it tired and needs refurbishing is an understatement. It needs knocking down. The place is not staffed, I did not see a single member of staff in three days. You have to collect the keys from a nearby pub.
It’s just a complete dive. Never again !!!!!
Liked very hot water in shower/bath, good view of clock tower, nice new mid century sofa, new TV, friendly staff and comfortable bed. However hotel is past its best, very scruffy, as it needs a deep clean, redecoration and a refurb. Carpets are old shabby and stained and decor odd/tired/dated. There is no on-site parking (contrary to description) but road parking available and fine. Hotel not manned, guests have to check in at another hotel in same group.
We loved the little window in our rooftop room and food was generous portions, fresh and well presented.
All staff were chatty and helpful.
The windows of parts of building could do with up dating but didnt effect our stay.
We would happily return .
Nowhere to park close as just on street parking, actual place was all closed up with a small note saying go to the pub over the other side of the crossroads.
Walls as thin as paper. Could hear every car/truck at the crossroads.
Shower curtain was mouldy at the bottom.
Breakfast doesn’t stay until 8 so not good for anyone on business.

Disliked: Cleanliness
There were hairs on the floor of the bathroom and the one towel had black marks on it.
Most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in and very noisy all night with traffic, only go half til toilet paper and no staff avail me for more when we got back at c 9pm
Ground floor room which was directly on the main road through Rhayader. Constant traffic including HGVs of up to 44 tonne (roughly from 6am-9pm).
Blinds in both bedroom & bathroom were ill fitted/broken and the bedroom blinds had to remain closed at all times for privacy.
Mattress was in need of changing. It was dipped on both sides with a hump in the middle….
Bathroom in need of an update. On arrival, there was one half used toilet roll (on the toilet tank as no holder) and one small shower gel & shampoo for two guests. Had to ask daily for bathroom to be restocked. The taps constantly dripped as they would not turn off fully.
Would not recommend staying here.
Nice hotel to be fair and really nice room.
Only slight problem is it couldn't be more in the centre of Rhayader. Its not a big place but the pub opposite had a live band playing LOUD until after midnight.
Conveniently located in town centre. Well appointed. Good value for money.
l could clearly hear the people next door, l was glad that l took ear plugs. The decor was rather worn.

Great little hotel and restaurant in the heart of
Great little hotel in the centre of Rhayader, the room was a little tired, and cleaniness was a little lacking, and our room was on the road. However the staff were amazing, all of them, really helpful, ready happy and couldn't have done more for us. On top the food was wonderful.

The room was beautifully presented and stylish on arrival. However, once I started using the facilities, issues became apparent. The jacuzzi bath had a broken button and a loose tap, the toilet wasn’t properly cleaned, and the tea station cups were stained. There was also a strong sewer-like smell that worsened overnight.
The TV didn’t work, the mattress and pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable, and the room was overly hot with no air conditioning or windows to open. The shower was confusing to use due to the power switch located outside the bathroom.
Noise was a problem too – I could hear guests in neighboring rooms, as well as music from a nearby pub and road traffic. Thankfully, things quieted down after 10 p.m.
The staff were friendly once we found the check-in point, but there was a mix-up over the room allocation. I’d paid extra for a larger space, but staff handed us the keys, saying it didn’t matter which key we chose. I had to clarify this in front of my friend, which was awkward as I’d intended to be discreet.
The on-site café and restaurant were the highlights – great food and a lovely atmosphere. Overall, while parts of the stay were pleasant, the comfort and cleanliness issues mean I wouldn’t return.

Street light across the road stays on all night and only poor fitting non blackout curtains , being on a main junction in the town traffic noise is on going day and night,
Spacious room, quite, very relaxing. The staff in the pub who manage the facility in the evening where great abd the staff in the Bistro who do breakfast who also amazing. Around a great stay.

We would not book here again.
I suspect the multiple 10/10 reviews from 2023 & 24 may not be genuine customers but these have driven up the rating of this place.
We had a “superior“ room which leaves us to wonder what the non “superior” rooms can be like!
It was a mostly clean but very tired room. Marks on the carpet and cushions, very soft and lumpy mattress, curtain pole mounted too low, chipped furniture, bath panel coming off, bathroom Lino looks fairly new but has not been laid flat and has waves which are a trip hazard! Basin taps leak. External door is filthy dirty with cracked glass (it doesn’t look like a door to hotel accommodation, more a homeless person’s hostel), room door has a large gap around it which you can see through. Bed linen & towels were clean.
Bring earplugs or noise cancelling headphones for noise from other guests and from traffic, church bells and live music and revellers from the pubs. Oh, and the toilet macerator which goes off intermittently yet vigorously throughout the night.
If you’re looking for a peaceful ‘superior’ hotel room, this is not the place.
All in all this did what we needed and we got a few hours sleep in between two long walking days.
On the plus side, the staff who checked us in and out were friendly & helpful.
We would not book here again.
