I went because of all the hype, and mostly because I wanted to rent a SUP and I couldn't find one anywhere else. The beach is beautiful! Rentals were easy and reasonable. I also thought the food and drink were great and reasonably priced.
Well worth the drive out west! Great swimming beach. Beach snack bar with good food & drinks on site. Chair & umbrella rentals available. Some shade under trees. We bought cheap ($12.) folding chairs at Home Depot & used at several beach locations. Free parking. Skidoo, kayak, paddle boards rentals available @ Rainbow Beach. Two sea turtle nesting areas there - roped off for protection.
