It’s a great bargain to stay here. It’s like a big house—it was a firehouse! Big kitchen, two big shared bathrooms (one is toilets/urinals and the other is two sinks and four shower stalls with doors, soap provided). Quiet place but it’s very close to businesses. Quirky history and friendly, helpful staff. After booking, a deposit paid by credit card online and identification card emailed to the host, are both required before check in key code is provided. An app is provided to use your phone to electronically open the front door. Do all this before you arrive!!!

Worst experience staying at this place. Rooms & other amenities showing in the picture is not realistic. AC not working for two days they made arrangment of other room after two days. Bad smell everywhere. No safety in this area around this hotel. Spotted mice roamed in the room. Expedia should remove this listing.

The ceiling fan only works when the light is on, and it's loud. It's very humid and hot in rooms so bring your own fan. I didn't use the kitchen or the common room but the bathroom was well maintained. Locks on each door with codes but the rest of the door looked like it could be easily pushed in. It did well as a bed and a place to stay, just not completely comfortable.

Room had a window on top of entry door that wasn't covered. So you'd effectively get all the light from the corridor into the room. Showers and toilet on the second floor are avoidable. The ones on the top floor are easier to manage. Location is not the best but it has great proximity to the city centre and airport. It's cheap for a reason.

The worst property I’ve ever stayed at, can’t believe it’s on Expedia. There is no reception, ur key is an app online which I had to wait an hour outside the place to get when checking in as no one was responding and this key also disabled during my stay meaning I couldn’t get back in and had to wait a further 3 hours for a response to make it work. No blackout curtains meaning ur room is fully bright by 5/6 am, I was right next to the main door which slammed all night too including people knocking as their online key wouldn’t work. There was also a line of drugs in bathroom which hadn’t been cleaned and blood stains on my pillow we just had to deal with as the person I was emailing didn’t seem to care about. Location is in a dodgy area as well although quite close to city, it is defo not worth saving money compared to properties around imo.

Property completely misrepresented on the pictures provided We arrived late night, and place just scary looks completely abandoned, and looks like in the horror movie. We just opened entrance door, and left even not getting into the room itself. No light inside. Smells very strange. We had to find another hotel in the middle of the night. I called Expedia next morning asking for the full refund. Request was rejected by property owner Nice work Expedia Thanks

Yes, room was clean including the air quality. I am highly sensitive to mold and allergies. Was NOT an issue what so ever. Please keep in mind that this place is a living place of historic significance. The original training center for fireman since 1856!!!. Please dont judge it until you get inside. I love this place; especially because I feel SAFE here. The owner is an amazing and genuine person that is easy to communicate with and does his best to accommodate within his ability. Area is convenient. Has bus lines right out front. Access to food and convenient store is within a very short walk. . I rebooked immediately solely based on not once feeling uncomfortable. Thanks guys!! Ill stay as long as you'll allow until my new job starts in boston. I am a nurse that has been hired in the dermatology department of brigham and womens.. Ill always keep your place high on y list to stay whenever im in the area

Literally impossible to get into the building. No staff onsite. Sketchy behavior, musty, falling apart. Staying at a motel6 in LA was literally a better experience. Didn’t even end up being able to actually stay the night there becuase when we came back from dinner the front door to get in the building wouldn’t unlock. On top of that the police were outside when we got back. Ended up staying somewhere else, came back in the morning to a book propping open the door so luckily we where able to retrieve our belongings, which seemed like ether a total pain or close to impossible at that point. Oh also the staff that is available is only on the phone and have little to no customer service skills. When I told them that there where police outside and we couldn’t get it they told me that they weren’t notified of any security alerts. Lol just don’t stay here

I wouldn't reccomend staying here as a female solo traveler or couple. Although most things are fairly similar to the pictures, it is true that you need to read reviews carefully and know what to look for. There were strange sounds coming from some of the rooms that were somewhat concerning. The lock on the door to our room was not secure. The bathrooms were very well out of shape and provided little to zero privacy. If you plan to shower, bring a bathing suit as there is no curtain with a see-through glass door the second you walk into the bathroom. The kitchen was not well maintained, and looked as though it had not been cleaned in a long time. The cherry on top of the experience was that although there were no bedbugs, it was apperant the sheets had not been changed since the last guests with hair and old skin in the bed. I have to say that my partner and I arrived late in the night, and left as early as we could. Spend the extra $30 to pay for safety and clealiness.

No staff on site, phone number online is incorrect. The room itself was clean, but the AC unit in the window was broken, and cold air got in all night. There are plenty of shops nearby. Location is a little sketchy, but is okay.
