Not a resort or spa. It’s used for private retreats for the Jewish community. We came for the pool per the pictures but the pool has booked, segregated male and female swim times so we couldn’t use it. Everything is worn down and dirty - it’s basically like an abandoned hotel like the Shining. Empty food wrappers and bottles, and broken furniture were everywhere. The paint is peeling and tile falling off in many places. To top it off, the electricity stopped and water pressure significantly decreased so we had to walk up and down 6 flights w a toddler to leave. On the bright side, the staff are nice and try their best w what they have. They also had bouncers outside from an event and indoor toddler playroom and basement playroom for bigger kids w an arcade and ping pong table. But the sanitary / safety levels were questionable. I don’t know how this passes code and inspection for a “hotel”. Please look at guest photos. The 5 hotel pics are deceiving.

It was not as grimey or disgusting as I expected it to be. Bed was very comfy. Great location right between the Shawangunks and thr Catskills. Does look abandoned on the outside. Probably the oddest hotel I have been to. This place has a lot of potential, just needs some sprucing up.

Tired and run down
Hotel is tired and obviously has not been renovated in decades. Staff is very friendly and tries to be helpful, given the limitations with which they have to work.

Reading some reviews, we were hesitant to book. Property is large and old. Lobby is huge. We checked in 10:30pm and was greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. There was a party going on in banquet hall, so it was quiet lively, festive. Lobby is huge, with big chandeliers. Room was clean, rug was older but clean. Desk was wobbly but we did not need to use it. We only stayed one night, but it met our need. We attended Meadowlark festival in Stone Ridge, Easy to find at night.
Had clean comfortable bed and working shower. .Keurig in room, but did not see coffee or cups. Had refrigerator. No restaurant on site, not a problem , went to Saunderkill Farm for breakfast on Route 209. I would stay here again.
The staff were great and the the room itself was clean and had everything we needed. There was no spa. The indoor pool was very outdated and not very clean or warm especially since it’s December. The elevators are very old and seems to not have been updated since they first built the building. The property had a lot of potential but it is very outdated and needs lots of repairs. While checking out it was pouring outside and there was a huge leak in the lobby. Our overall stay was good but we wish it was more of a spa like stay like we thought.

our first room we were placed in did not have working air conditioning, a working phone and a lock on the door was broke so we got moved to another room where again the door did not lock, and the phone did not work. The whole property is really rundown, the lobby bathroom had missing ceiling tiles the whole place smelled terrible. The pool area was disgusting. Our room was clean, but had bad stained carpet peeling wallpaper. The whole property needs a facelift. On the plus side the staff was very friendly.
We should receive a refund. This hotel couldn’t possibly pass an inspection and I wonder about the safety of the elevators as well. The description of the Hudson Valley Resort and Spa is extremely deceptive. It was absolutely run down and filthy. Towels were all over the hallway when we arrived and were there when we checked out. Ceiling tiles were falling. The lobby had food on the floor from children and a turned over stroller that seemed to be ok sitting there. The garbage bin outside the building was overflowing with crap. I took pictures if you would like them. The rugs are all stained. Where is the building inspector? The check in staff were all very nice- that’s about it. Requesting a full refund! I have several pics of the filth. We’re disgusted to say the least.
We found it unique and close to most of the activities we were interested in. The breakfast was nice and the seating outside was very accommodating with a nice view. We did use the hiking trail in the property and our dog enjoyed the trail as well. The room we had was next to the entrance so it was slightly noisy, but we had the air on in the evening so it wasn’t an issue. The not so great part was the check in because the person that checked us in was extremely rude. We also had no Netflix and after calling the same person at reception , we were told the property was in some type of transition and Netflix and other TV capabilities were not available. My daughter was also told that SOME people fin it hard to operate a remote control. We were also told at. Our 5 pm checkin our 9 lb dog was an additional 75.00 (
And if we didn’t like it , we could leave) . being a service dog we were surprised and did not see mention of that on the property website other than the hotel was dog friendly. We did basically enjoy the one night stay , the owner was hospitable and made up for the nasty woman that checked us in . The person on evening shift at the desk was nice as well. It’s hard getting past the initial condescending attitude especially since the check in process sets the tone first thing however we wouldn’t allow an obviously troubled person to ruin our stay. Enjoy the natural beauty.

It’s very easy to communicate nice big property working staff excellent
haunted, smelled of urine, and dusty but very fun to explore. Should have come here 40 years ago. Seriously this place is disgusting however we had a very fun time exploring what seemed to be an almost abandoned hotel. So we would come back but not for sleeping.
hotel booked though Expedia. we had 4 adults with 2 rooms. we were not informed thay the hotel was closed and the property was vacant. we were stranded , had to cancel our plans and drive back 200 miles. Expedia is not fairly compensating for ruining our plans snd causing a major inconvenience. am recieveing the worst customer service .
Pro
Decent price. Beautiful views. Quite. Staff was very nice. Great water pressure.
Cons
It is what you expect for 3 stars. It’s like a motel room with a view. The outside of the property is in disrepair. The inside of the property is antiquated and needs updating. No food on site. Could not find a vending machine. This hotel is geared for Jewish families. Only 2 channels work on the TV.
