"Had a lovely say this week at Chez Mathilde. It was chosen for the peace and quiet and because of the lovely cosy feel of the property. It was just the right distance for us to explore the forts and bunkers around Verdun. The gite itself, had everything we needed including a wood burning fire. Annie was lovely and made us a quiche, which was the best I have eaten. If we go back to this region again, we will defiantly be booking Chez Mathilde again."

"Séjour agréable au calme. A proximité de beaucoup de sites à visiter sur la première guerre mondiale. "

"Wir haben uns in diesem Haus sehr wohl gefühlt. Es ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet. Mit einem schönen Ofen (und vorhandenem Holz) ist es noch gemütlicher. Der Garten ist komplett umzäunt und für Hunde ideal. Es war alles sehr sauber, geräumig und fehlte an keiner Ausstattung. Mit dem Hund konnte man eine schöne Runde über Felder und durch das kleine Dorf mit Kirche drehen. Für den EK und zur Besichtigung anderer Städte ist ein Auto notwendig."

"We love this gite, very comfortable and homely on a beautiful estate, we spent lots of time in the pool, exploring the grounds and cooking on the bbq, the owners were helpful amd friendly, would love to return again in the future"

"Dès le début de notre réservation, Bertrand s'est montré très engagé et coopératif. Il a répondu à toutes les questions que nous avions concernant notre réservation. Lorsque nous sommes arrivés à Saint-Marie-du-Der, Bertrand était là à l'heure et nous a fait visiter la maison. Nous avons été agréablement surpris par l'espace disponible dans cette maison de vacances, qui n'avait que trois ans, et par la modernité de son aménagement. Dans la cuisine, nous avons trouvé beaucoup plus d'appareils...

Perfect peace and quiet in rural France

"Stopped here en route to Italy by car, very much off the beaten track. Lovely countryside location, very peaceful. Pleasant welcome. good room with all facilities, bed was adjustable and very comfortable. Decor a little dated, but this is part of the charm of choosing a rural hotel. Excellent meal, reasonably priced; lady who served us was especially nice. Good breakfast. Would definitely come back."

Outstanding stay

"Just returned from a wonderful stay at Chez Mathilde near Verdun. Annie, our host, was absolutely lovely — so welcoming and friendly, and she even treated us to delicious homemade goodies. The house itself was amazing, full of character with beautiful traditional features and immaculate furnishings throughout. It really felt like a home away from home. The area is fantastic too, with so much history to explore, especially the WWI sites nearby. We’d highly recommend Chez Mathilde to anyone looking for a charming and memorable stay! Well worth a visit when in the Meuse

"We chose this hotel because it had high ratings and it fully deserved them ! Everything was perfect and it is one of the most comfortable stays we have ever experienced. Lots of space in the room and the bathroom, perfect temperature, tastefully furnished, excellent breakfast and a host to whom nothing is too much trouble."
