Serene 12 acre mountain escape

Located just outside the town of Portola, nestled on 12 acres of stunning landscape, this home is the escape you’ve been looking for. This property offers incredible opportunity whether you are sticking close to the house, hiking up to the property’s scenic overlook or if you are looking to explore with breweries and hikes just a short drive away. The vaulted ceilings and open concept is combined with the kitchen and living areas, anchored by a wood burning stove and 360 views of the mountains. Two queen-sized bedrooms and a full bath can be found on one side of the house with a king-sized master and adjoining en suite bath located on the other. Additional amenities include a laundry room, TV and fully equipped kitchen. Enjoy all this property has to offer from snow play around the property and cozy fires in the winter to hikes in the summer.

Pets:
We are happy to welcome you and your pets to the property. There is a $50 pet fee and a $20 fee for additional pets. VRBO often does not add this charge to the booking details so please make sure to check that it is added or message us after booking. If you arrive to the property with pets that have not been disclosed, you are in violation of the reservation, this may result in added fees or cancellation of the booking.

Check in/ out times:
Check in is 4pm, check out is 10am. These times are in place in order to accommodate same day departure and arrivals. If the schedule allows we are happy to discuss early arrivals and late departures. Fees may apply. Without prior conversation, these times are strict and if not followed may result in additional fees.

Disclosure:
For security purposes, there are a few external cameras around the house. These may not be touched or tampered with.

Great Sierra Stay

Spent a wonderful week hiking and sightseeing in the Sierras and Lake Tahoe area. The house was very spacious and in a wonderfully peaceful location. We enjoyed the deer, California quail and rabbits who would visit the yard each day. The views from the house were wonderful and, coming from the busy northeast US, very calming. Portola was a wonderful and quirky small town to visit for a meal or grocery shopping (somewhat expensive). Lake Davis was completely uncrowded and another close-by, peaceful destination. The hikes in the Lakes Basin area of Plumas National Forest were outstanding. Amazingly beautiful country. Also, don't miss the less-traveled Rock Lake just up the valley from the super small town of Mohawk. There is also a super interesting gold-mining museum that is free in the unique settlement of Johnsonville.

Special spot

Extremely comfortable house with amazing views. Epic sunsets with dueling views of the Sierras and the Great Basin from the front porch. Awesome stargazing at night. Excellent location for access to Lake Davis and exploring the area in general. Market and gas a few min away. Great hosts. Hope to stay again. 10/10

Portola house

We enjoyed our second stay at this wonderful home in Portola. Every window has a beautiful view. After hiking at Davis Lake or enjoying the Lakes Basin area it’s great to come back to a comfortable house and relax with the great view. Sunsets are particularly nice. Thanks for allowing the dogs. It’s definitely a place to return to!

Great house!

We stayed here for a golf tournament at Grizzly Ranch. The house was spotless and well-stocked with essentials. The golf course was less than a 10-minute drive away. We would definitely stay here again!

Host made everything super straight forward and was accommodating. Our 2nd stay here so knew exactly what to expect and love the tranquility of the place + proximity to Grizzly Ranch Golf. We will definitely stay here again.

Weekend getaway

This was a great weekend home with great amenities and amazingly clean. Although no A/C it was comfortable and cool. The owners responded quickly to a small issue and we were able to take care it in via message. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the time there!

Fantastic Views

We rented this house during a heat wave with daytime temps around 100 degrees. We were worried the lack of air conditioning would be a problem, but it wasn't at all. The house is well insulated with ceiling fans and a wraparound eave that shaded the exterior, making the patios cool for sitting outside in the evening and morning. The kitchen was well appointed and though we didn't cook anything we were happy to see a coffee maker with a box of filters and a large pot. What really made this property were the views! We will totally come back.

Beautiful peaceful pristine home

What an incredible piece of property and home for our family to stay at while at our daughters wedding. Everything was clean and just like the photos in the listing. Mornings were the best as the sun rose and the local wildlife came out. We would love to come back!

Portola Hiuse

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Portola House. It was beautiful, comfortable, quiet, and had everything we needed. The setting was perfect with lots of space. Mornings and evenings were particularly beautiful. Every direction had a beautiful view. We were there at a perfect time with everything green, wildflowers everywhere, and pleasant temperatures. It’s located close to Lake Davis for walks and easy driving distance to the Lakes Basin. The dogs were so happy too. Thanks for allowing them. I hope to go back next year!
