The Space:
Nestled in the vibrant SE Hawthorne district, our home is near dozens of eclectic, independent clothing and antique shops. A few blocks away, you’ll find local coffee shops, Portland's famous Powell's Bookstore, McMenamin's Bagdad Theater and Pub, various bars, and an array of food carts offering diverse ethnic cuisines.
At The Hawthorne Hangout, nothing is more important to us than giving our guests easy, quick, walkable access to the best that Portland has to offer. Head across one of Portland's famous bridges to explore downtown and the Pearl District!
Our modern 2-bedroom, 1-bath home is in the heart of SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, Oregon. Our compact space features two queen beds with comforters, duvets, and pillows. Heating and air conditioning are provided.
The bedrooms include clothing storage. The second bedroom is compact with a low/sloped ceiling, a low bed setup without a frame, and access through the bathroom. Each nightstand has bedside lamps with USB ports for charging your phone and other electronics. The unit is equipped with kitchen appliances, a couch, and stylish furniture for your comfort and convenience. The kitchen features counter space and a small dining table. We provide dishware, cooking utensils, and a single-serve coffee machine with coffee pods.
The living room has a smart TV for streaming with your own accounts, and WiFi is available. We supply shampoo, conditioner, body wash, laundry soap, cleaning supplies, and towels for our guests' comfort. This compact space welcomes families or a weekend getaway. Enjoy nearby parks, nature in the Columbia River Gorge, or dine at one of the city's many renowned restaurants. The home also includes heating and air conditioning.
Parking is limited to unreserved public street spaces under posted rules; do not rely on an assigned driveway or gravel spot. Cesar Chavez is a busy urban street, and traffic and downstairs activity can be clearly audible.
There is a short yet steep flight of stairs to enter and exit the home, so those with accessibility issues should consider this feature. The home is well-lit with windows in every room. We’ve added touches to make this place feel like home, including local books, board games, and an interactive map where guests can share their origins. It’s our way of showcasing what this fun city has to offer.
Thanks for considering our home, and we hope you'll stay!

The Neighborhood:
Often compared to San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury neighborhood, Portland’s Hawthorne District is renowned for its vintage shops, restored theaters, street performers, and vibrant creative characters. This eclectic mix makes it one of the city’s top destinations for both locals and visitors. Adding to its charm, the neighborhood boasts a standout food scene, making a day spent on the bustling Southeast street an effortless delight.
Getting Around:
🚶 Walking — This neighborhood sits between the Division and Hawthorne corridors, two of Portland's best streets for dining and shopping — both within easy walking distance.
🚌 Bus — TriMet FX2 (Division) serves downtown, and Route 75 (Cesar Chavez/Lombard) offers connections across Portland. Check the current trip planner for your route.
🚲 Biking — BIKETOWN bike-share is available in Portland; check its map for current nearby bikes and stations.
🚗 Driving — Public street spaces are unreserved; follow posted rules and fees. Rideshare (Uber/Lyft) is another option.
✈️ Airport — PDX is reachable by car or MAX Red Line with connecting transit; check TriMet’s trip planner.
