"At first glance, I thought I had walked into the 70’s. But after further inspection I realised how clean everything was. The bed may have been a little hard. But it was a very comfortable place to stay.
Staff were friendly, the location is great, and a central part of the city to make it easy to get around, catch local"
"OK, so it's a real prison. And we were staying off-season, and by chance we were the only guests there that night... and the check-in was all automatic. So the whole thing was kind of surreal as we walked around the prison yard, reading the signs about historic prison life etc. You REALLY get the vibe of being in an old gaol, so don't stay there if you're going to get freaked out by things like that. Beds were comfortable, room had everything we needed, but again remember: prison vibe. On the other hand, if you want a really unique experience, this is for you. It's not just some generic hotel that could be anywhere in the world with no flavor. Met the owner the next morning, and he was a cool guy filled with interesting stories etc. He kind of got screwed over with the collapse in business because of Covid etc, so I know they could really use your support."
