"The Big Island Retreat is a lovely property located minutes on foot to one of the best snorkeling beaches on Big Island. We stayed in the Ocean view room which was over 2 floors. The view from the bedroom is lovely. The rooms are quite small with little storage. The bed was only a double and very high off the floor making getting into it really hard. The bathroom is not totally enclosed and has no basin as the kitchen sink is just outside. Although there was nobody staying in the rooms...

"This is an extraordinary place, beautifully nestled at the top of a narrow tree-lined road, designed to blend into the landscape. It's high, and the view of the sea is grand. Well appointed, with a salt-water pool and very nice communal areas. We stayed only one night, a stopover between Kona airport and the drive to Hilo. We left thinking we would like to stay again, perhaps stay two nights. Lovely hosts. "

"We had a great stay at this hotel. Yes, it's a little old but it's clean. It has a restaurant on site which serves good food and drinks. We ate there twice during our 4-night stay. The swimming pools and hot tubs are very nice and well-maintained. The staff are helpful and friendly. There are restaurants and supermarket across the street and there are also food trucks next to the hotel. Dukes is walking distance if you walk on the boardwalk and the beach. It's a nice location.
