Ornos Bay is the closest beach to the town of Mykonos. Hotels surround the bay, there are plenty of dining and entertainment options along the foreshore and the beach is one of the most idyllic on the island. This popular, family-friendly beach is an excellent spot to base yourself while on the island.

Ornos Bay is one of the safest swimming beaches on Mykonos. The water is relatively shallow and the bay is protected on both sides by cliffs and buildings, so there is little wind or swell at the shoreline. Umbrellas, chairs and lounges can be rented from vendors on the beach.

Learn how to windsurf or waterski with one of Ornos Bay’s licensed watersports schools. The various schools are located along the beach, so it’s easy to ask around to get the best price. Classes are popular and it’s necessary to reserve a place ahead of time.

Traditional Greek cuisine is available from the restaurants that line the beach. Try freshly caught seafood from the Aegean Sea, or enjoy a glass of Mythos, a local Greek beer. Many of the tavernas and bars have outdoor seating, so you never have to miss a moment of the beautiful climate.

Ornos Bay gets quite busy in peak season. If you feel like heading to a quieter swimming spot, catch a boat to a neighboring beach. A number of boats operate from the bay, offering chartered cruises and transportation to the surrounding islands.

Ornos Bay is located about 2 miles (3 kilometers) from Mykonos Town, and is accessible by car in just a few minutes. There is free parking around the bay, although the area gets busy early in the day. You can also walk to the bay from Mykonos Town, or use the regular bus service that runs to the beach. Ornos Bay can be visited daily and there is no fee to use the beach.
