The people who own and run the Lodge and their staff are gracious, accomodating and fun. The setting, from the beach to the trees and flowers, is lovely. Want to go back!
Our room (cottage) was perched 180 ft above the beach. It was perfectly outfitted with porch, kitchen, bedroom w king size bed. The bathroom was amazing with separate shower and toilet rooms. Both were overlooking the ocean and beach and entire grounds. The entire building was done in local, highly polished, hardwood. The downside is if you don’t have a car rental the taxi fare is 70,000 xfp so stay a few days.
This place is beautiful. The sounds of the birds the beauty of the plants, the view from the bungalow, all excellent. I like being in nature and this was like being in nature while still having comforts of home. The bathroom itself was gorgeous with a skylight, lava rock and plants. The man squiring net around the bed really works well. The owners took us on a boating trip to snorkel and it was divine. All very restful.
BYOF (Bring you own food!) No groceries within 20 minutes and ONE restaurant in a neighboring property. This place offer breakfast and pizzas (although we weren't offered pizzas) so you better bring food. Minimally they could add a vending machine! In room, kitchette but no paper towels and no coffee or tea provided. The open gaps in the ceiling allow bees and geckos to enter the room so if you bring food, SEAL IT. Objectively, it was a real problem, we just feared a gecko getting into our luggage!
Maybe it was our room (2 bedroom suite) but it is a HUMP up and down the hill to get to it.
The family was so kind and friendly- and the lodge was absolutely beautiful- completely breathtaking. We can’t wait to stay here again!!!

This is an absolute haven of tranquility and you don’t expect a lodge like that while driving down the East coast of Raiatea. The garden is stunning and you can read about all the plants. By the small beach is a lily pond and the hillside is a jungle of the most amazing vegetation. I was greeted very warmly and shown around, there is a beautiful communal area with a kitchen that is fully stocked and then you have little spaces in and outside of the fridge for the things you buy for yourself. There are no meals offered, you have to prepare them yourself.
The place has been set up very beautifully, many details considered. The hosts were friends;y and helpful. The breakfast was fantastique. Best so far in our trip. We would happily come back. Note it is isolated, which is part of the charm. Do rent a car in advance. Can do the whole island. Very close to the sacred Marae.
This is the sort of hidden gem you dream of discovering when you travel. I booked the Oviri Lodge because it was the most reasonable choice close to the Taputapuatae cultural site. As soon as we drove down the driveway to the cluster of charming bungalos at the edge of a crystal clear lagoon, I knew we were in for a treat. The suite was huge, the view sublime, and Lousie and Cyrille gracious and helpful. There were fresh flowers everywhere, and the breakfast spread was AMAZING - every tropical fruit you can imagine, many types of fresh pastry, hot good coffee, their homemade jams. Plus Lousie helped us meet a local guide to the sacred Taputapuatae site we would never have found on our own.
Having lived and worked in Polynesia for a decade, and visited most of the major sites, this was the best hotel experience I've had.
Great family friendly floorplan each cabana had two bedrooms one with multiple twin beds for children and separate queen bed for adults the staff was great at scheduling excursions.free kayaks to take go out to adjacent MOTU
Beautiful view of sunsets over the ocean highly recommend it for budget conscious families
I would like to start with something positive: the owner is nice, but it is hard to communicate in English, they have kayaks that you can use. Unfortunately, this is by far our worst experience of a stay in a “hotel”. The lodge we stayed at was the most expensive and “luxurious”. It was rather dirty when we arrived and it is in a forest meaning a lot of bugs, spiders and crabs in your apartment.... when coming at night you will feel like in a horror movie - this is more like camping experience in super deep woods with a serious attract of crabs. You won’t find anything romentic about this place more like we seriously paid to be here? It is also located really far from “civilization”. I would suggest staying closer to the city center. My advice to the owner make it really clean and offer daily fresh towels, pick up garbage (none of this was done while we stayed there) ... I forgot to add internet is in so called common area - so you have to walk around 10 min. Down a hill to connect with the outside world and it is really poor connection - you won’t be able to achieve a lot... Their pillows were old and super uncomfortable ... We stayed there 4 nights and were counting hours to leave, what a sad experience of French Polynesia for us.
The Hotel is nice, secluded, and peaceful. The property is very well maintained. The hosts were very helpful and accommodating. Cyrille and Louise are the best hosts you can have. We were able to get a car rental through them and their breakfast was excellent. I wish we could have stayed there longer to really enjoy the property. Hopefully one day we can come back. MARURU. ALOHA.
