I want to start out that we’ve been coming to
OIB for 25+ years and absolutely love this family friendly beach! We’ve stayed in a variety of houses and condos in this same complex countless times and have always enjoyed our stay. This year, however, was very different. It began with a very late check in of 5:30 which is late in the day compared to most ( not a huge deal), but if the owner has all day to clean and prepare you’d expect it to be clean, WRONG! The overall condo was dirty. Sand still left on the floors, dishes were dirty, and overall bad smell in all of the bathrooms. Okay, not my house and we will only be sleeping and showering in it so we will get past it. The problems kept coming only hours into our trip. MANY repairs need done to this place. Baseboards are rotten, laminate and trim coming up, broken toilet paper holders in all bathrooms, broken lamps, mold, musty smell throughout, dirty kitchen pots and pans, back doors were rusted and didn’t shut or lock appropriately, and the most important… NO WATER PRESSURE AT ALL! Only ONE shower works at a time ( 2 showers can’t be running at the same time, there’s 4 total in this unit). You can’t even run a sink while someone is showering which means we all had to come back each day early to shower and get ready for dinner taking away a lot of vacation time. We contacted the owner the first day to report all of this and he did not return our call. He finally returned our call the second day and was not concerned. After taking the issue further, we took the issue to VRBO where a case was filed and they helped us contact him again. On day 4 a plumber was sent where they told us this has been an ongoing issue and not only did 2 valves need replaced, but also the entire water heater which couldn’t be done while we stayed. During repairs, the whole condo building lost water due to the plumber needing to work on these long standing issues. The owner was contacted via VRBO and still did not reach out to us. When we decided to take matters into her own hands in contact the owner, he said he was unaware of any issues previously and that no one had ever complained which is a bold faced lie due to previous recent VRBO reviews. In the end, VRBO helped us get a refund and we decided on one unit that we will never rent again. I just feel bad for the next vacationers staying here!
