"Pros:
Very clean place with modern amenities. The restaurant was good. Great pool! We stayed in the Tower part of the hotel. The views were great, even in the middle of winter. The room itself was very modern with everything you’d expect. Coffee from a local Escanaba roaster in the room!!!
Cons:
It felt like the walls were paper thin. From our bed we could hear babies crying all through the day, both days we stayed and the morning we left. There were children running up and down the halls of our floor and the floor above us, both nights, until 1am. I had mentioned it to the front desk after the first night and they told me they thought the problem had been isolated and that the guests were checking out. I don’t know if there were multiple groups with the same habits, but it wasn’t resolved. The last issue was just with where our room was located. Lake access for snowmobiles and four wheelers was very close to our room and we heard every one of them that went on or came off the lake, all hours of the night.
Overall:
It was our first time in the area and we were looking for a nice quiet getaway. The photos and descriptions made it feel like that’s what we booked. The only complaint with the actual hotel was with how thin the walls were. Everything else was circumstantial.
Amazing hotel, amenities, location and incredible staff! I’m unsure if we came on a bad event weekend or what, but I don’t know that we’ll be back to The Terrace Bay Hotel.
But maybe it’s for you!"
"Stayed here during the last blizzard, I thought the hotel staff could have been a bit more accommodating considering the circumstances. They closed the breakfast station promptly at 10 even though they knew no one could get out of the hotel and that the entire town was shut down. Not one staff member shoveled the front entrance way, I get it that it’s the job of the plow company to do that but it only would have taken a few moments to shovel the front to make it a bit more easy for people coming in. They did supply dinner from somewhere on the Sunday night which was edible. The hotel needs some general renovations like maybe a coat of paint to bring it a bit more up to date. The 1 elevator that did work was not the cleanest. Overall it was better than sleeping in the truck at the side of the road, but probably wouldn’t stay there again if I didn’t need too."
"This place was an absolute gem on the peninsula! It comfortably accommodated seven adults with plenty of bathrooms and showers, and there was more than enough space for everyone to relax and spread out. The wood stove made the home incredibly cozy, especially after long days out on the ice. The location couldn’t have been better for ice fishing the first week of March—quick and easy access to the lake. The sunsets were absolutely beautiful and made the evenings even more memorable. Amy was a fantastic host—very responsive, helpful, and a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We had a great stay and would absolutely come back again. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a comfortable, well-located getaway on the peninsula! "
"The staff was so friendly! We had a problem figuring out the TV and they came right up to our room and worked on it until they got the channels to come in. The room was very large and included a kitchenette which came with dishes and utensils. The beds were firm, but not rock hard, or worn. We have an 85 lb dog and he was welcomed! Plenty of walking in the area too."
"The pool room is cool in temperature but the hot tub is hot and the pool water temperature is pleasant. Both are clean and I thoroughly enjoyed both. The place is great for a business overnight stay. Breakfast is good, but get there very early because supply gets low. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet for sleeping.
