Nijmegen-Oost Vacations from ￥176,700

Second tie staying here on business, and it’s always great. In a lovely area away from the business of Amsterdam. Easy links to AMS via train, train station v close to hotel. Both times my colleague and I have checked in very late because of flight times and it’s never been a problem. If you stay here, do try out the local cafe ‘Lagom’, it’s great!

I had stayed in a Social Hub in Madrid and found it to be an excellent alternative to main stream hotels. The one in Amsterdam was not the case. The location for this hotel is not very good. We were assigned a handicap accessible room without requiring nor requesting one. They did change our room but unfortunately the air conditioning in that room did not work. When I enquired at the desk I was told that none of the rooms had air conditioning because it was illegal in Europe to have AC. This is of course false. The rooms were climate controlled except our room was about 25-28 degrees even though the thermostat was set to 18. They said they would send someone but never did. We survived by opening the window and luckily the fall weather kept the room comfortable for sleeping. We did not spend any daytime hours in the room. Overall, for the money we paid, we could have had a much better hotel room, closer to the city centre and in a safer, more friendlier area. I do not recommend staying at this location.

The location was very convenient for both the airport-Schiphol by train and for Amsterdam Grand Centraal station by Metro 54. Both were approximately 15 minutes away from Amsterdam Bijlmer ArenA . They even have an Albert Heijn supermarket at the metro/train station, The breakfast had a lot of variety to choose from with choices for vegans too. I loved the smoothie, choices of bread and the plain yogurt. The room was clean with a modern bathroom-no complaints there. Staff was helpful when needed, I did not need much help. For sightseeing, they had a really nice map on level G close to front door and on level 2 by the grab and go. This summarized some key areas to visit.
