"We had the most wonderful stay in Katie's Cottage. We met the lovely host Caroline on arrival and we couldn't have gotten a warmer welcome. There was fresh scones with jam and butter and a bottle of wine in the fridge. The house was absolutely immaculate with loads of fresh towels and bed linen. "Great hotel , stayed before several times. Excellent location overlooking clew bay. Not as busy as Westport. Good breakfast. Didn’t like that the pool is only three feet deep, very difficult to swim properly."

"Our stay at Nevins Newfield Inn was outstanding. We were greeted and welcomed by the proprietors and personally shown to our room in the Lodge. We were given a room facing away from the road as we had requested and on the 1st floor so that we did not need to carry our luggage to the 2nd floor as there is no elevator. The rooms in the lodge have been recently refurbished. We booked a Deluxe King room. There was plenty of room even with a large comfortable bed.,The room was very quiet in spite of the facility being right off of the Wild Atlantic Hwy about 1/2 way between Newport & Mulranny. The facility is spotless & decor in the lodge is like staying in a private home. There is no AC in the rooms but the windows opened securely and we had ample air flow to be comfortable. The rooms are equipped with fans and a luxurious modern bathroom with walk in shower, heated towel racks and plenty of room to hang towels to dry as well as a microwave & small refrigerator. Made to order breakfast & parking is included with your stay. All of the staff were very welcoming & the owner stopped by our table at dinner to personally thank us for staying with them. Such a warm Irish welcome! An added benefit is that the Greenway is a short walk from the Inn & bikes can be rented from Sea breeze Bike Hire in Mulranny right on the Greenway for those who want to ride any portion of the 52 km trail from Westport Achill Island. I would definitely recommend you stay here if you are traveling to this area"

"The hotel itself is very good, breakfast was a highlight and rooms are very good. The main issue we found were weddings, both days take over the hotel area for periods and are noisy at night; and the leisure facilities were terrible, we had to go as the pool is a main focus for our daughter, but the changing facilities were filthy, broken, the pool area is tired and we felt unwelcome by one particular person giving swimming lessons as if we were in the way."

"This place is currently undergoing renovations. The lobby is looking much better, but the brooms are very old and dated. We particularly dislike the bathrooms. Here’s a picture of our bathroom. The glass enclosure won’t stay shut causing water to lay on the floor. The body wash is empty. The shower controls require a manual to operate. Even the counter sink has old-style faucets. On a positive note, the gym was spacious and well-equipped. However, the only towels available in the gym are meant for the pool, you need to buzz an attendant to get in and the tv screen in front of the exercise bikes is a lovely shade of blue. Tip: If you’re going to have the tv on with no sound it’s nice to turn closed captioned on so people exercising don’t have to lip read. The morning breakfast was basic but nice although someone asked to verify our room number three times. The dining area felt a bit clinical kind of like a seniors home. Downtown Westport was a 15 minute walk away but over a hiily street."
