Restful river retreat
We stayed four nights in mid August with our family of four before the kids (10 & 12) had to start school again. We found the property to be accurately described and well taken care of. Owner/host, John, was easy to communicate with and super helpful. Honestly, he was more of a concierge than a VRBO host in his response time and travel suggestions. Thank you for a lovely stay and tell Barney “hi”.

Cozy cabin by the river
Overall enjoyed my stay at Das Fluss Hutte! Perfect location! Walking distance to lone star float house (~8 min). If you bring your own floats you can float your way back to the cabin. John (host) was very helpful! Cabin had a grill and fire pit on site for use. Plenty of seating outside to enjoy the scenery. Perfect place to have a relaxing weekend getaway.

The property was as described. The cabin was decorated so cute and the beds were comfortable. John gave helpful information regarding floating the river and his recommendation for the best burger on the river from Lonestar Float house was spot on! We will be booking here again!

Peaceful Getaway
Our stay was great. It’s conveniently placed 5 minutes from a tubing outfitter with shuttles and a place to eat. Every morning we enjoyed our breakfast on the patio watching hummingbirds, deer, ducks, and geese right there in the backyard. John is a very respectable host and an all around good person. Our group has already said if we come back, this is the place.

Great Communication
The inside of the house and rooms was smaller than what we thought before we arrived, but there was still plenty of room for us to enjoy our trip. The area was beautiful and the view was great. The owner was very helpful and did ensure that our trip was worry free and fun.

Great house! Great Host!
Came out to float the river and spent most of our time just chilling at this beautiful spot. We saw tons of wildlife and it was a nice quiet location away from the parties enough to enjoy it. The host was awesome and super accommodating. We will definitely stay here again next year.

Nice relaxing spot
Great place to stay if you are looking to catch up with friends and relax. Easy access to the river if just want to chill. Short walk up the road to the tube rental if you want a float trip. Would stay again for sure.

The location is great. The house had everything we needed. Great deck for evening gatherings. Great back yard. John, the host, was great. Met us when we arrived to explain a few things about the house. We had a great time.

Cozy, clean, and a beautiful waterfront location!
We absolutely enjoyed our stay in this cozy littler river house. The location was absolutely perfect! Upon arrival we were greeted by John who made sure to get us settled in and tell us all we needed to know about the house and the surrounding areas. Within an hour, we had our stuff unpacked and were hopping in the river on our floats to start a much needed weekend of relaxation. Thank goodness the neighborhood pet Goose…..my husband called him a Goose-ster….Barney was there to honk us awake like a rooster right after the sunrise to get our day started! He was adorable! We hit the river after breakfast and stayed in it all day. We barbecued at night for dinner and then enjoyed S’mores at the fire pit. We will definitely be back!!

Another wonderful experience!
This is our second trip, to celebrate our anniversary. As always, the accommodations are clean and comfortable. The draw for us is the river and the beautiful, natural setting. The second day we were enjoying it so much, we couldn’t stand the idea of not sharing the experience with our 3yo grandson. They came for the afternoon to enjoy the great outdoors! The water level was perfect for him to “swim like a fish” right in front of the cabin. His mom and grandmother (me😉) floated on tubes while his Poppie “watched over” him. Of course Barney (the Goose of the Guadalupe) wasn’t going to miss out on the fun. He joined me on my tube! Our grandson was VERY disappointed to not spend the night on the bunk beds upstairs. There is a fire pit for nighttime relaxation watching the fireflies. Our last morning, we made it a point to watch the sunrise. We watched deer, ducks, otters, and Barney begin their day in the calm of the morning. I feel completely rejuvenated! We can’t wait to return next year...if we can wait that long!

John was very hands on with our rental experience. He even provided a small fishing pole for my 6 yo. Water was shallow enough for my 6 yo to wade through the water waist deep we enjoyed our stay He lives next door, so if you are trying to get rowdy, this is not the place for you

Great Getaway!
Lovely location for a riverside vacation. Easy access to all the fun spots without the noise of crowds. Beautiful spot for floating or just sitting to watch the wildlife and lighting bugs! House is very clean and comfortable enough to accommodate 6 adults. The owner was very helpful and responsive to all communication. We had a wonderful time!

End of summer farewell
My husband and I took our son, his girlfriend, his best friends and our nephew, all ages 18-20, to the river to say farewell to the summer before they all went back to college. We had a fabulous time!! John was a FABULOUS host, he gave us plenty of river and local area restaurant information prior to check-in and made himself available for any questions throughout the stay. The house was cute and the deck looking over the back yard with river access was spectacular! Would definitely visit this property again.

Perfect little spot
I’m mad that we didn’t book longer. We stayed in San Antonio for 3 nights and finished it off with this house for 2 nights. We should of stayed here the whole time. John and his wife’s river set up is so so perfect. We hung out down by the river majority of the time and on the patio. Very close to Roy’s rentals and Lonestar Float house so it’s very convenient to float the river. He also has anchors where you can just float right in front of the house. Everything you could possibly need is there. This will be the only river house we book from now on. Just absolutely perfect!

River Getaway
We float the river every year and have stayed any where from a hotel, tent, RV, on the river, different campgrounds, in town and this by far was the best trip and place we have stayed. Perfect location, the house was cute and quaint and the owner was the nicest guy we have dealt with. We loved Barney the neighborhood Goose!

Perfect River Cabin
This place brings back memories of staying at our lake house as kids. Nothing too fancy (which I liked) but perfect for a great river trip with friends or family. The kids loved it, they played games and read a homemade book about Barney the local goose who came by for a visit. The river was approx 1.5-4 feet in depth and about 75 feet wide....I think. We saw ducks, crawfish, squirrels, deer, and a lot of turtles. The fire pit was ready to go with kindling and firewood and there were anchors that you can tie to your tube and just lay and float. Great burger joint on the river about a five minute walk from the cabin. Johns (owner) hospitality was amazing! If you want to fish this may not be the best spot and the backyard had a steep slope that was slightly difficult for my older mom but I would definitely stay here again.

Country Life At It’s Finest
We wanted to celebrate our son’s BDay with some family and friends, and while we had several places to choose from, we’re so glad we stayed here. My wife loves the cozy cottage feel and decor, the boys loved the up stairs sleeping and river, and I was thankful for our accommodating host. Highly recommend this property!

The perfect retreat!
This was the most relaxing, enjoyable escape from reality we have had in years! The cabin is charming and comfortable with ample linens and a modest (yet well a equipped) kitchen. The king size bed is very comfortable. The view is so tranquil! Begin the morning with coffee down by the river, late breakfast on the deck, walk down to the local restaurant (half mile away) for lunch, afternoon float in the river and wrapping up the evening by the fire pit to complete a perfect day! Of course you can be more active if you want! There is a beautiful back yard for activities for the family. Daily visits from Barney the goose and Daisy the duck. Deer wander in the mornings (I wasn’t awake...my husband enjoyed that alone😉). John was very attentive and immediately responsive. We hope this is a new tradition to celebrate our anniversary weekend! Thank you both for a great experience!

3rd Annual River Trip!!!!
