Let me start with the undeniably AMAZING things about this property; The scenery alone was gorgeous, including your very own secluded pond and beach area to enjoy at your leisure. The house, having been built in the 1800s, was incredibly unique, including 2 separate 2nd story areas and enough space for our large family to stay comfortably. The hiking trails were fun, fishing was great, wildlife was unbelievable and the hanging hammock chairs near the beach are now currently in my Amazon cart!
As far as the actual stay, there was definitely a lot of extra planning and pre-packing of items usually included in a rental. No outdoor chairs, beach towels, laundry detergent and a desperately needed fresh dish sponge are provided. The poor lighting in the entire kitchen badly needs to be upgraded. There’s beautiful string lights on the front porch but we were unfortunately told there was no extension cord to actually plug them in….All of the kayaks/canoes disappointingly had a daily rental fee and each bundle of firewood needed to be separately purchased. Between the both relentless biting flies and mosquitos, be sure to bring bug repellent that can be sprayed around the entire area - definitely something I wish we would have brought!
This property was beautiful and a wonderful place to simply be together as a family and relax whether that was sitting on the front porch rocking chairs with a hot cup of coffee or kayaking around the pond searching for turtles and other great
