"The room was comfortable although a little small. We did get the budget room, so this was not a surprise. Overall very good. They never had change, so this was a bit annoying, but also common in Ghana. "

"As an African American Jewish traveler of Yoruba descent returning home, I need real space to breathe. If you’re in Ghana searching for a permanent spot, one of those places that requires 3–6 months' rent upfront, that process takes time. Until then, American Mall is a great landing place, especially if you spend a lot of time inside working. Having an entire apartment makes a huge difference when you're a globe-trotter on your second passport. Privacy & Safety: Since this apartment is situated on top of businesses, privacy is key. I highly recommend requesting the top floor and ensuring you have the hallway screens outside your door. It helps you feel secure and provides the privacy you need in a busy area. Management is cool, but they need to tighten staff boundaries. No one, including the laundry team, should be walking on the roof or near guest windows. It’s weird and can make you feel watched, but the top floor/screens help with outside the apartment. The Essentials: WiFi is strong, we ran a PS5 and Apple devices with zero lag. It’s a busy business center, so it’s not "soundproof," but it is quiet at night. Safety-wise, don’t believe the hype. I’ve walked the streets late at night with my yamaka and elekes on; nobody bothered me. It’s congested, but safe. The Practicalities: There’s no printer on-site, but the staff can point you to local print shops. Also, be ready for checkout. this isn’t America. They count every spoon, fork, and cable outlet before you leave. "

"I wasn't able to get a shuttle from the airport. My initial booking was confirmed and I responded with the itinerary, but I didn't get a reply until 5 minutes before I arrived at the hotel. I was quite disappointed by this, seeing that I responded 3 days before my arrival. In fairness I had sent the hotel itinerary by mistake, but if someone had replied in a timely manner this would've been resolved before I had to pay my own way from the airport to the hotel. My room was clean, the staff was great and quite helpful once communication was clear, (side note) a thorough and repeated explanation of your request is required so there's no issues. I didn't use or see a gym at this hotel, it seems like there was a bit of renovation happening. The internet was in and out at times and my phone in my room worked the first couple of days after I arrived then like the internet it stopped working. I lost water during one of my showers and I informed the front desk and they informed me that it was a water pressure issue, but after that night things were back to normal."

"Excellent, really helpful staff - the biggest asset in our view. We had a pool-facing suite. Furniture in our suite was a bit worn out and there were stains on the carpet. The bathroom and shower were oversized and, I think, disproportionate to the overall size of the suite - together almost the same square footage as the living/sleeping space. However, overall a good size, and the bed was spacious and very, very comfortable. Great selection at breakfast and good wines on the drinks menu. The rooftop pool is a wonderful oasis at the hotel. We didn't get to use the spa, except for a massage and facial appointment which were both great. "

"This hotel was very nice. The area was prime and there were really nice markets as well as restaurants in walking distance. Derek (our butler) as well as the other staff we came in contact with were great and very accommodating. They made sure we were safe and had someone with us when we walked or went to the night market. They even walked us to restaurants at night. Poolside and the lobby areas were very comfortable. My only gripes are that the street traffic/noise was really loud so take ear plugs. Also, be prepared to spend money like you would at a hotel in the states. I purchased a tipalia, jollof, and a drink and my total came to $60 something dollars. Overall I had a good experience and would consider booking again. "

"Overall, it’s a great option for business travellers rather than perhaps tourists with children. The location is ideal and makes it very easy to get around the city, especially the tourist attractions. The standout feature for us was the breakfast. There was a huge variety of options, including delicious traditional Ghanaian dishes such as jollof rice and fish stew, alongside all the classic breakfast items. The room décor was modern, and the shower was excellent with strong water pressure. The staff were consistently lovely, polite, helpful and quick to respond to requests. When a chair in the courtyard unexpectedly collapsed as I sat on it, they assisted me immediately, apologised sincerely and offered drinks to make up for the incident. They also provided an iron we requested arrived promptly. However, there were a few maintenance issues that affected the overall experience. The double room was quite small and some fixtures and fittings felt worn for a four‑star hotel. Several electric sockets didn’t work, and although the room had USB‑A charging ports, they weren’t all functional and there were no USB‑C options. The fridge acted more like a basic larder, as the freezer compartment didn’t work. Our courtyard‑facing room didn’t get much natural light, so in Accra’s humidity, things didn’t dry easily. The safe in our room was also not working and despite reporting it, it wasn’t repaired during our stay. Overall, I would still rate the Pelican Hotel as a good place to stay, "
