The staff here are the most welcoming and hospitable that I’ve ever encountered. This is our second time visiting the Setre Naramachi Hotel as a couple and it’s been nothing short of an absolute delight. The rooms are luxurious and spacious. The location is conveniently next to a station so traveling around Japan was easy to do. We can’t wait to come back!
Super kind staff, good breakfast, and they offer a morning guided walk through Nara park that we thought was great. Fantastic location. The beds can be a little challenging if one has mobility issues as they are entered at the bottom of the bed.
We enjoyed a wonderful stay at SETRE NARAMACHI. The hotel is stunning and has a beautiful garden filled with song birds and a few friendly chickens. The food is world class and the service is lovely.
lovely hotel; enjoyed the modern design and use of wood throughout the building. Staff were helpful and friendly. Liked the option of a western breakfast although this could have been more substantial, also had a special gourmet dinner here which was delicious. Great location near Nara Park and the train line. Would go back again
The staff was very helpful and friendly. The French cuisine and breakfast were delicious. Our room was very clean and inviting. We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Setre Naramachi!
Great location near Nara park, next to all the landmark shrines & temples.
The hotel is very good overall, but felt somewhat overpriced (no onsen, rooms not so large and equipment quite standard).
Traditional breakfast was very good.
Wonderful staff and service. We loved our delicious breakfast, the beautiful garden (my 3 year old especially liked the chickens), and the wonderful rooms. I was only sorry that we didn’t book a longer stay.
This is one of the coolest hotels I’ve ever stayed at. I loved the natural elements, especially all the wood, and how serene it felt, particularly with its location right in front of the pond. I especially loved that they had three friendly chickens, and the whole place felt eco-friendly. My partner and I felt completely at peace. My only wish is that we could have stayed one more night. If I find myself back in Nara, I will definitely stay here again.
Hotel is very nice.It is in a comfortably harmonious area. Easily acess to the sightseeing sites. Tons of wonderful resturant choices and small shops. Rooms is clean and comfortable. We are right inside the Nara Park region.Deers are reachable everywhere.Train line and JR line are also within walking distance. Would recommand to people.
Lovely hotel, very attentive staff at check in and really enjoyed the free bar and snacks in the evening.
Beautiful room with lots of space and great balcony.
The only negative is -
We had dinner at the hotel one night however we weren’t allowed to take our drinks from the free bar through and were given a drinks menu with the same drinks on but for a surcharge which we did not like and could not understand.

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
Stylish boutique hotel, but the rooms are dark, and the windows are set in a way that you can‘t look outside. Weird. Staff doesn‘t speak English and is not very competent. What I liked were the free snacks and drinks, and the lobby. Location is great, right by the park.
Really cannot fault this hotel. Rooms are extremely comfortable and well equipped and the whole hotel is beautifully designed, around an inner courtyard garden with resident chickens. The atmosphere was peaceful and serene.
Inclusive drinks and snacks are a nice touch and dinner (a sort of Japanese / Western fine dining hybrid) was excellent. Breakfast (traditional Japanese) also superb. The staff are very friendly and helpful although maybe don’t speak as much English as at larger hotels. This was never a problem though.
It is walking distance from Nara park and most of the main sites and is sited on the banks of a beautiful lake. With the yen currently weak, it also represents exceptional value. If I return to Nara, I would not stay anywhere else. Genuinely superb.
It’s such a serene place and a thoughtful hotel. Staying there felt like a spa/escape day in my solo week travel
I’m Japan. The deer park, the viral mochi kiosk, the pagoda was all walkable but the free AM walking tour provided by the hotel, the afternoon/evening snack bars, the soft wood foot den was just all relaxing and so worth it. My birthday (which I never disclosed) was just a couple days earlier but for my dinner course they made sure to still acknowledge it with a cake. Wish I stayed longer.
Great property. Hotel policies not super friendly. They have a lounge with drinks in the afternoon, but they won't let you sit down to enjoy your drinks as they want to save the tables for dinner, even though it's 4PM and no one was in the restaurant. Taking drinks to your room for happy hour is not great.
