The Lazy Trout. Livin Lazy at the Little Missouri River

Located at the Little Missouri River at the historic Old Factory Site. This 2 story cabin provides all you need (and everything you don’t) to get away and LIVE LAZY! One of very few homesites located near a trout release point. You can get your gear and walk right to the river to start fishing!

The cabin's interior is a combination of rugged log cabin with a modern flare. The finish out is clean and simple yet continues to remind you that you are tucked away next to the Little Missouri River. This fully furnished cabin allows you to walk in and immediately GET LAZY! The downstairs has an open living/entertaining space with a full kitchen, dining area, and living area that stays the center of all the action.
As you make your way to the back of the cabin you will find a full bath and full laundry room. At the very back of the cabin are two queen bedrooms separated from the living space so you get the rest you deserve! Upstairs is an additional queen bedroom, full bathroom, a hang out area with 1 queen fold out couch, and access to the balcony perfect for your morning coffee. As you make your way back down stairs and outside, you will find wrap around porches that lead you to the back of cabin entertaining space. This space includes a fire pit, park style charcoal grill, picnic table, and outside games. Wildlife is plentiful, it is not out of the ordinary to see deer in the yard, eagles flying over head, and trout swimming in the river!

The Little Missouri River is controlled by the Hydroelectric Dam which is used to generate power. The river will rise as much as 3 feet when generating. The generation schedule is subject to change without notice to meet power demand. In addition, the schedules from SWEPCO only reflect releases through the hydropower facilities and do not include normal U.S. Army Corps of Engineers releases.

Nice cabin, maybe not ideal for children under 5?
We were so looking forward to our stay at Lazy Trout and overall we had a good time! A few little hiccups that Cory was very quick to address. Cabin cleanliness:10/10 Communication w/host:10/10 Safety/functionality of Cabin for young kiddos: 5/10 (1. the staircase is completely open to the living room w/handrail only on the wall side. And no landing rail so no ability to put a baby gate up. This was an over-site on my part as there are photos of the stairway, but I just didn’t look close enough to notice this. 2. The bar top table was not functional at all for us with two kiddos three and under who need booster seats. 3. Stairs outside are steep, which I mean we hold our kiddos hands anyway, but these were quite steep. However the railing around the porch is very kid safe/friendly, just have to watch out for the stairs.) Amenities 7/10: a couple essentials that were missing were quickly addressed by Cory and we really appreciate that. But some basic ones like body soap and shampoo never arrived (wound up driving into town to buy some - which is fine, but I’ve never stayed somewhere these things weren’t provided unless it specifically stated it was not prior to our stay). Playground was listed in the amenities, however there was no playground at this cabin. There is a nice riverside playground ~10 minutes down the road which is what we wound up going to. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but just a few things to keep in mind if you’re traveling with toddlers

Good not Great.
First off this cabin is definitely over priced. The description says property is on the Little Missouri River however there is no water on the property to get to the river you have to walk down the road to the public boat launch. It sleeps 8 however the pull out couch had no sheets or bedding provided. The beds had one fitted sheet and no mattress pads. The fitted sheet did not fit the mattress and they came off throughout the night revealing a very dirty, stained mattress. There were no paper towels. No gas grill.

Wonderful Cabin Close to Crater of Diamonds
My husband, 8-year-old son, brother, sister-in-law and I LOVED this cabin. It is beautiful inside and out, very close to the river for fishing, has a wonderful outdoor space with a grill, picnic table, fire pit and party lights, has an amazing wrap around porch for lounging, and it is a short drive from Crater of Diamonds. There were even mining tools available to borrow for diamond hunting. The only hiccup was that when we arrived, the property had yet to be cleaned. The host was easy to contact and made sure a cleaning team arrived ASAP. We had such a lovely stay, and my son still talks about this cabin a year later. We’d all love to stay here again someday.

Peaceful Getaway
This cabin was amazing! Really beautiful. Super clean. Well appointed. Beds were very comfortable for a rental property. Probably one of the better mattresses I’ve had on vrbo. The communication with the host was great. Easy to find and a short walk to the river. The cabin is well appointed. No extra rules or hoops at check-in (which I’ve come across before). The process was peaceful and easy. Exactly what you want on a vacation. Would definitely stay here again.

Family Trip
This cabin lives up to the pictures and the description provided. It was one of the cleanest and most up-to-date places I have stayed and plenty of room for the six of us(ages14+). The cabin was close to the Crater of Diamonds State Park (about 15mins) and if I chose to revisit the Park I would want to stay there again. Travel dates 7/31/24-8/3/24.

Living Lazy
The description of the cabin was very accurate and very comfortable. Everything we needed was readily available and the area was really nice for our party of 5 adults and two preschool boys. I have only one suggestion--the hinges on the downstairs bathroom and bedrooms sqeaked loudly and woke sleepers up. They probably need a little oil. Other than that our stay was excellent.

Awesome cabin!
Everything about the cabin was amazing!! Only thing that you have to keep in mind is that it's located in a dry county! If you are planning to indulge in adult beverages, bring it with you!! The neighboring county in Nashville ARKANSAS is also a dry county! I will definitely be staying here again!!!

Relaxing and comfortable
A great cabin to stay for a relaxing 3 days. It had everything we needed as well as a short walk to the river and drive to the lake. We enjoyed ourselves a lot. Beds were super comfy and cabin was nice and cool inside. Morning coffee on the porch and evening smores at the back. Lots of room for board games and movie watching as well.

Absolutely wonderful!
The Lazy Trout cabin was the perfect get away! The cabin was immaculate. The decor is fresh and attractive. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen facilities were complete and modern. The air conditioning was excellent and the showers were great. Communication with the owner was always prompt and easy. The cabin is only a short walk from the river. The river wasn’t very deep there but it’s within 5 miles from the dam and we’re able to fish at a beautiful place about 3 miles from the cabin. There are not many restaurants close by rut it’s a nice ride to Nashville, Arkansas for dinner. There are aqlso a couple of restaurants in Mufreesboro - Telinga’s was really good. It’s a short drive to the Diamond Crater state park. There were four adults in our party and the cabin accommodated us perfectly. I don’t want to forget to mention the fire pit around which we sat each evening with a glass of wine. It was a lovely finish to a perfect day! I highly recommend this location!
