Hidden Gem! Charming rural getaway close to hiking/skiing/biking. Dog friendly!

Brookside Cottage has it all! A cozy, open concept guest house with exquisite views, Brookside is perfect for a country getaway or ski base. Located in the Hills of the Headwaters, it's close to a number of conservation areas, including the Boyne and Mono Cliffs. Hiking, skiing, golfing, snowshoeing and biking are close at hand. Big skies for astronomers and astrophotography!

We offer 32 acres of wooded trails and fields for walking or snowshoeing. The area boasts a number of fine restaurants, boutiques, farmers' markets, museums and local artisans. We are 15 min from Mansfield Ski Club, Mansfield Outdoor Centre and Hockley Resort, and 60 min from Blue Mountain and Wasaga Beach.

Ideal for couples, solo adventurers or a small family. Perfect for 2, the cottage sleeps a maximum of 4. We are dog friendly and welcome well behaved, socialized dogs for an additional fee of $20/night/dog.

Inside, rustic wood accents complement the modern amenities. In floor heating in shower area will keep you toasty in the winter and the new, fully stocked kitchen is perfect for cooking and is open to the living space, fireplace and entertainment area. Upstairs is a small loft and a bedroom with a queen-sized bed. (additional queen-sized double high air mattress bed or twin double high air mattress bed can be provided for children and extra guests) From every window, you'll have a view of the Mulmur Hills.

Brookside Cottage has dedicated WiFi, Satellite SmartTV, Disney Netflix, Prime (login with your account), DVD player/movies and Xbox.

Recommend snow tires/AWD/or 4x4 in winter months as the area can be blustery.

We loved every part of Brookside. It was very clean, organized,everything was available and well thought out, the grounds were beautiful, the horses were fun to pet, the gazebo and games were fun, Wi-Fi access was very good, transportation was fine once we acclimated ourselves. We look forward to going back again.

Wonderfully Relaxing

This cabin was the perfect setting for a romantic getaway! Beautifully decorated, cozy, and charming. Wonderful property to wander and explore, and then cuddle by the fire after. Great hosts & a great experience overall!

Great place to relax

The guesthouse was immaculate and had everything we needed. It was well-decorated, comfortable, and spacious. We enjoyed the outdoor space and the peace and quiet it provided. Taria was an excellent host—very communicative, accommodating, and sweet. It was the perfect place to stay!

Another Great Stay

This was our third stay at Brookside, as always sparkling clean cottage with all the amenities you could ask for. The dogs loved running around the property and sitting beside the horses as we gave them some carrots. This is a must place to visit if you just want to get away for a few days. We'll be back in the spring.

Relaxing Christmas Holiday

Country charm

We booked the Brookside cottage for a long weekend in August and very much enjoyed our stay. The cottage is on a picturesque property that offers beautiful views and plenty of walking trails. The cabin itself has all of the amenities you want and has considerable country charm. It is an ideal rental for couples who wish to bring their dog as well as our pup had a very enjoyable stay. We would definitely stay again and recommend it to family and friends.

Love this spot!

Second time staying at the Brookside Cottage. Beautiful place to be and really gives you a chance to unwind. Taria is a fabulous host and always respects your privacy. Cutest Country Cottage

Where to begin... the cottage is so cute. Its the perfect size for a couples getaway. The host, Taria, puts so many detailed touches that make you feel right at home. We stayed with our dog and utilized the MANY trails around the property for morning walks. Such a beautiful area. We would highly recommend Brookside Cottages.

Countryside Escape

We spent a full week and loved every minute of this quiet countryside property. It was perfect to get away from the stress of our usual downtown city lives. We spend a lot of our time road cycling around the region which is awesome! And our dog loved the freedom to walk around the extensive property and interact with the friendly resident dogs. We had everything we needed for an all inclusive week away. Thank you Taria (!!) for introducing us to some of the life and care of horses and being on hand to respond to our needs. Not to mention our fun conversations about life in general 🙂 I sure hope we can come back soon for another stay!

Had an amazing stay!

We visited Canada from Virginia and staying at this cottage was one of the best parts of our trip! When we first arrived Taria greeted us at the cottage and showed us around to make sure we were comfortable. She told us about the maple syrup that was being collected by her and the neighbor and even left a sample for us to try! We were so curious to see how they were making their maple syrup that they let us see the process and even bottle our own maple syrup! Taria was very helpful during our stay and offered different hikes, restaurants, and shops to visit while we were there. She was a wealth of knowledge and that alone makes this cottage worth it. We only stayed there a week, but we definitely feel like we got to see a lot of Canada. It was truly an adventure staying in their cottage and we would definitely love to stay there again in the future!

A rare gift of quiet and stillness

This was our second stay at Brookside Cottage and we love the place. Living in a city, one forgets how quiet the country can be. Sitting out on the deck of the cottage and listening to the morning birds while drinking coffee is such a pleasure. Despite dire weather predictions, we had two very nice days of sun and clear nights, so I was able to do some astrophotography in the dark night sky. It is a real pleasure to be able to look up at the night sky and see so much more than we can see in the light-polluted city. We did a short hike through the woods on the property and that was quite enjoyable as well. It was a very enjoyable stay and with the wonderful Mrs. Mitchell's Restaurant just five minutes away, we had everything we needed. I highly recommend Brookside Cottage for a relaxing and quiet country getaway.

Me and my wife stayed here for our honeymoon. We had an excellent experience, everything was as advertised. Great location, quiet and peaceful. The house had everything we could ever need and the property was fantastic. The hosts were a delight. We enjoyed the gazebo, the firepit and sitting on the front porch having coffee. We barbequed our dinners and fed carrots to the horses for breakfast. We loved to give belly rubs to the dogs and we couldn't have asked for more.

Lovely weekend spot

Relaxing Getaway

Had a wonderful time at the cabin for a few days. Enjoyed the beautiful hiking trails in the area that the host (Taria) suggested. Cabin had everything you needed to make it feel like a home away from home. Loved sampling some of their homemade maple syrup from the farm. Definitely recommend!!

Nice hidden getaway

The cottage is a cozy place with almost everything provided, and we even hade a chance to feed the horses. Highly recommended for family with young kids.
