Mullet Bay Beach

Mullet Bay Beach which includes a sandy beach, swimming and general coastal views
Shady palm trees, warm and clear water, white sand and good surfing waves make this hamlet a favorite with locals, particularly on the weekends.

The idyllic coastal hamlet called Mullet Bay has a relatively quiet beach, especially during the week. There are few rocks and the bay is sandy and idyllic. The water is warm and crystal clear with a rolling surf within paddling distance. Enjoy a range of watersports, relax in the shade of a palm tree or sip on a tropical cocktail from one of the beach bars.

Mullet Bay once had the busiest beach on the island of St. Maarten and St. Martin, but when hurricane Luis struck the island in 1995 it partially destroyed the luxury resort that overlooked the beach. The resort was never rebuilt. As a result, the main attraction of Mullet Bay Beach is now its peace and quiet.

Find a patch of white-sand beach and make yourself comfortable. Arrive early to find a shady spot underneath the beach’s many palm trees. Deck chairs and umbrellas can be rented from a kiosk on the beach. Go for a swim or select from the wide range of sporting equipment that can be rented on the beach.

Whether you enjoy stand-up paddleboarding or surfing, you will be pleased to find that this bay isn’t crowded with swimmers. Mullet Bay has some of the best waves on the island and is regularly subject to northerly winds, perfect for offshore surfing.

Try snorkeling off the rocks at both edges of the bay. While not the island’s prime location to see the underwater world, Mullet Bay still harbors a number of colorful species of fish and corals. After your activities, order a drink or meal from the beach bars and enjoy the views.

Mullet Bay is located on the west coast on the St. Maarten side of the island, a 20-minute drive from the airport. Free parking is available above the beach, but it is recommended to leave your valuables in your hotel.

Ask for Chester when renting chairs for the day. Eat at Rosie's, love the hamburgers, ribs and chicken!
