We stayed 2 nights for a wedding, location was perfect. Staff was super friendly. We love to stay in historical hotels and this one was one of our favorites as far as condition and smell. When we came back the second night the hallway was maxed out in Halloween decor, mostly spiders and webs, it was a delightful surprise!!!
Very quaint town with local items in local stores. The hotel is small but the rooms were very nice. They have an a very nice patio where they serve quality food and drinks and live music on Friday nights. The hotel staff was very welcoming and always ready to help make you visit a success.
We really liked the character of this 125 year old hotel. The staff and service were great. The food was excellent at the restaurant. It’s right across the street from train tracks, so it was noisy but that’s not the hotel’s fault. The Jacuzzi tub was awesome! it was nice to get away and relax. The garden was beautiful, and there was even live music!
An adventure, old world hotel, not all the modern conveniences, but a fun stay. Love the trains, didn't see any ghosts, staff was great especially Anna!
Our room was very comfortable and clean. Windows are old and must be drafty b/c there was tape around each presumably to seal them. The in house restaurant...wow! All of our meals exceeded expectations. The filet mignon was so flavorful - I'm craving it as I write this. The staff are very attentive, nice, and personable, this alone will bring me back to The Thayer.
It was an awesome experience. The only issue we had, and this is not related to the Hotel or staff, is that trains went by and they honked their horn during the night--the hotel is so close to the railroad tracks. But for anyone coming from a larger city, it may not have been a bother. Otherwise, everything was wonderful!
I am an easy person to please!! I loved everything about your establishment! Just 2 things I would change! We stayed in crystal room!! The tub is beautiful for younger people!! But the young girls that were suppose to wait on outside patrons need to be more attentive!! I have worked as a wait staff person! They were very slow and sat in the back room a lot!! I ran for our table quite often!! For drinks to the inside bar!! I know they are young , but they would make better tips if the were more attentive!! And more pleasant!!I do realize most businesses are struggling to have enough staff!! I will be back!! But I will book a different room!! So wish I could have conjured a ghost!loved ann and Randy out on the beautiful deck!!
Fun to stay at this historic hotel. Unfortunately it was raining while we were there and we didn’t explore the town. The hotel has reasonably priced food and a cozy bar space.
Super clean and comfortable rooms loaded with charm. The food? In my opinion, their restaurant has the best food in Wright County, hands down. Highly recommend!
Where to start? My husband spent the first 20 minutes killing flies and Asian beetles that were flying all over the room...yech! And then the hot water pipe made the most awful sound while filling the tub only a few inches. It was just terribly outdated and lacked maintenance in and outside. I wish we would’ve known the Halloween decorations included a headless bride, complete with blood soaked dress and severed head. Not our idea of a quaint small town inn. I would only recommend it if you’re into the whole haunted house motif. We were disappointed.
